Tim Smith is a 5th generation Putnam County Resident attending Palatka High School, St. Johns River State College and was awarded a Bachelor of Science Degree in Political Science from the University of Florida. Tim served as Mayor of the City of Palatka from 1987-2000 and was elected as Putnam County Clerk of Courts in 2000 and sworn into office in January 2001 and he holds that office currently.
Tim was elected to serve as the President of the Florida Court Clerks and Comptrollers Association in 2010 and currently serves as Chairman of the Florida Courts E-File Authority and was recently selected as the Court Clerk of the Year for 2012-13. Tim is involved in many civic associations and function for many years starting with his membership in the Palatka Jaycees and a Charter Member of the Palatka Rotary Sunrise with 25 years perfect attendance, has served as honorary Walk America Chair for March of Dimes several times and named volunteer of the year for Putnam County March of Dimes in 2004, a past member of the Putnam County Chamber of Commerce Board of Director, currently serves as past President of the United Way of Putnam County, a past member of the Lee Conlee mural committee. Tim and his wife Darlene host the annual Celebrity Chef event to help support the Lee Conlee House effort to fight Domestic Violence. Tim is married to Darlene and has two married children and three grandchildren. Tim is a member of St. Mark’s Episcopal Church.
