We were honored to welcome New York State Office for People With Developmental Disabilities Commissioner Willow Baer to take a firsthand look at the exceptional work happening across Heritage Christian Services.

Each stop highlighted what makes Heritage Christian special: people, relationships and an unwavering commitment to excellence. Throughout the day, discussions centered on quality, innovation and the future of services across our region.

A special thank you to the team members who helped showcase the dedication and excellence that define our organization.

Commissioner Baer left with a strong appreciation for the incredible work taking place at Heritage Christian Services every day, and we look forward to welcoming her back soon.

This month's Mission Spotlight shines on the incredible team at the home on Hillrise Drive! 📣🔦

Our values are reflected in the everyday actions of this dedicated team that puts relationships at the center of everything they do.

According to Residence Manager Amanda Critz, the values that best define the team are joy and integrity. Humor, understanding and respect help create a positive environment where everyone feels supported. "Building the relationships is probably one of the most important parts of this job," Amanda says.

That relationship-focused approach is evident in the way staff members advocate for each person's wants, needs and choices. Whether making sure someone can continue attending weekly ice-skating practices, supporting fun activities and travel opportunities, or adapting to changing needs as people age, the team is committed to ensuring everyone can live a meaningful and fulfilling life.

"They go the extra mile every single day," says Amanda. "They're willing to put in the effort to create meaningful experiences."

From bingo nights and pool parties to special trips and everyday moments of connection, the Hillrise team exemplifies what it means to be !

We enjoyed another joyful Family Night at Sunshine Camp welcoming friends, families and staff members for a delicious dinner, fellowship, fun and games. We’re grateful to everyone who joined us to celebrate both the new and lasting friendships that have developed here at Heritage Christian Services! Special thanks to the Joseph and Irene Skalny Charitable Trust for their generous support of Heritage Christian Services at Rotary Sunshine Camp, Hoselton Auto Mall our event transportation sponsor and Spikes from Rochester Red Wings.

Our friend Chris is a dedicated Rochester Red Wings fan, and on Aug. 11, he celebrated an incredible milestone: attending his 1,000th consecutive Red Wings home game. ⚾🐦😎 His streak started on Aug. 30, 2011, and he is working on his 14th perfect season of attendance.

To mark the occasion, Chris was invited to throw out the first pitch, surrounded by the family who has shared so many of these special nights with him. Afterward, he settled into his usual seat, enjoyed his favorite ballpark treats and took in the game.

Chris’ commitment extends beyond the ballpark, too. He has worked at the Olive Garden in Victor for more than 16 years, supported by the Heritage Christian Services Employment Alliance. The management team there has supported his passion for the Red Wings by working with his schedule so he can keep showing up for the team he loves.

This is the Heritage Christian Services mission in action: endless possibilities!

Vinnie’s faith is an important part of who he is, and he was excited to invite the Heritage Christian Services community to join him for Bible study. ⛪

The gathering was a wonderful success, and Vinnie is already planning next week’s event, where he looks forward to sharing more of his favorite scriptures with friends.
