The Edcouch Police Department extends our deepest condolences to the family, friends, and fellow officers of Texas DPS Trooper Sergio Romero, who tragically lost his life in the line of duty today near Childress, Texas.

During this difficult time, we stand united with his loved ones and our brothers and sisters at the Texas Department of Public Safety as they mourn the loss of a true public servant.

Rest easy, Trooper Romero. Your watch is over. We will take it from here.

🚔 Rifle Qualification Day 🚔

Today, officers with the Edcouch Police Department successfully qualified with our newly purchased patrol rifles. These new rifles will help better equip our officers to safely and effectively serve the citizens of Edcouch.

We would like to thank the City of Edcouch for its continued support of our department and commitment to public safety.

The Edcouch Police Department would like to extend our sincere appreciation to Edcouch-Elsa Independent School District for the invitation to participate in Career Day at the Disciplinary Alternative Education Program (DAEP).

Sergeant Jason Medina #903 had the opportunity to speak with students about a career in law enforcement, sharing insight, experiences, and the responsibilities that come with serving the community.

We would also like to recognize the students for being attentive, respectful, and engaged throughout the presentation. Your willingness to listen and ask thoughtful questions made the experience truly meaningful.

Today the Edcouch Police Department had a great time celebrating the Read Across America Bulletin Board Contest with the students of Santiago Garcia Health and Science Academy 📚🎉

Students spent the week creating Dr. Seuss–themed bulletin boards, showing off their creativity, teamwork, and hard work.

With the help of our judges—Police Chief M. Leal, Mayor V. Gonzalez, Assistant City Manager J. Segura, and School Board Trustee A. Vasquez—each board was reviewed, and the students were rewarded with a well-deserved pizza party! 🍕

A special thank you to Principal T. Trevino, Assistant Principal R. Castillo, and the teachers and staff for making this event possible. Your dedication to the students and community is truly appreciated! 👏

This past week, Officer E. Rangel and Officer O. Ortega attended the Valor Basic SWAT Training. Congratulations to both officers on successfully completing this intensive course. Through continued training like this, our officers strengthen their skills, readiness, and ability to respond effectively to high-risk and critical situations. We remain committed to ongoing professional development to ensure our department is prepared, equipped, and capable of protecting our community while adapting to any obstacles or situations that may arise.
