Today, Sgt. Fuentes had the opportunity to give back to the next generation of law enforcement professionals! 👮‍♂️🚔

Sgt. Fuentes was invited to Edcouch-Elsa High School to speak with and teach handcuffing techniques to students in Mr. Cavazos’ Law Enforcement Class. It was a great opportunity to share knowledge, experience, and practical skills with students who have an interest in pursuing a career in law enforcement.

The Edcouch Police Department is proud to support our local students and help inspire the future leaders of our community. Thank you to Mr. Cavazos and Edcouch-Elsa High School for the invitation and the opportunity to connect with these outstanding students!

🚨 ILLEGAL DUMPING IS A CRIME 🚨

Help us keep our community clean! Illegal dumping of trash, furniture, tires, appliances, construction debris, or other solid waste on public or private property is prohibited by Texas law.

📜 Texas Health & Safety Code §365.012 — Illegal Dumping/Littering

Depending on the weight or volume of the material, illegal dumping can range from a Class C misdemeanor to a felony:

• 5 pounds or less / 5 gallons or less: Class C misdemeanor
• More than 5 pounds but less than 500 pounds / more than 5 gallons but less than 100 cubic feet: Class B misdemeanor
• 500 pounds or more: The offense can be enhanced to a Class A misdemeanor or felony, depending on the amount. (Texas Constitution and Statutes)

🚔 If you see illegal dumping, report it. Please provide the location, description of the vehicle/person involved, and photographs or video if it can be safely obtained.

🚨 SCHOOL ZONE & SCHOOL BUS SAFETY ENFORCEMENT 🚨

📚 Tomorrow is the FIRST DAY OF SCHOOL!

The Edcouch Police Department will be actively enforcing traffic laws in and around school zones to help ensure the safety of our students, parents, and school staff.

Officers will be monitoring for:

🚗 Speeding in school zones
🚌 Failure to stop for a school bus that is loading or unloading students — Texas Transportation Code § 545.066
⚠️ Other unsafe or distracted driving behaviors

Drivers are reminded that when a school bus is stopped with its visual signals activated, motorists are required to stop as required by law and may not proceed until it is safe and the applicable requirements of the law have been met.

⏰ Plan ahead! The first day of school can bring increased traffic and delays. Please allow yourself enough time to reach your destination and consider leaving early so you are not rushed.

🛑 SLOW DOWN. STAY ALERT. WATCH FOR CHILDREN. STOP FOR SCHOOL BUSES.

🎉 BACK TO SCHOOL BASH! 📚

The Edcouch Police Department had a great time interacting with our amazing students and parents during the Back to School Bash! 👮‍♂️💙

It was wonderful seeing so many familiar faces, meeting new students, and sharing some positive moments with our community. We’re excited for the new school year and look forward to working together with our students, parents, teachers, and staff to make it a successful and safe year!
