Last night we attended Impact Central Illinois annual meeting and grant pitch competition.

We were blown away by the amazing women who come together to make such an impact in our communities.

Honored to share that we were selected as a IMPACT Education & Opportunity grant recipient and will receive $120,000 to launch our EmpoweredTech for Independence program that will pay for assistive technology in our classrooms!!!

Outside of the Career Lab we need to continue to evolve with an increasingly digital world and ensure people with cognitive differences have the access they need and deserve.

Congratulations to all our other nonprofit friends who were selected and to everyone who made it this far and received funding.

Lights, camera, action!

Our EP!C crew had an incredible time visiting WTVP PBS and getting a behind-the-scenes look at the magic of television production!

From experimenting with green screen technology to learning about stage lighting, sound equipment, and teleprompters, we discovered just how much teamwork and creativity go into bringing a show to life.

One of the highlights of the day was getting a sneak peek at the set of the new show, In The Arena with Doug Cruitt, which premieres this July! We're especially excited because the show will feature one of our good friends, Pierre Paul from We Hear You.

A huge thank you to everyone at WTVP for welcoming us and sharing your knowledge. Experiences like these help us learn new skills, explore different careers, and see firsthand how stories come to life on screen!

July 1st starts EP!Cs FY2027 year.

After a deep gratitude for the opportunity to serve EP!C and its mission for over 37 years, Kim Cornwell has shared plans to retire from her role as Chief Executive Officer at the end of the next fiscal year in June 2027.

Kim started at EP!C in 1988 as a Program Coordinator/QIDP and worked her way up to CEO, a position she has held since 2010. During her tenure, she has helped guide the organization through significant growth, impact, and innovation. Under her leadership, EP!C has positioned itself for continued success in the years ahead. She has quite literally grown up with people EP!C supports and knows them like family, so this retirement announcement is bittersweet, as replacing a leader of this caliber will be no small task.

The Board of Directors has created a search committee and begun a thoughtful transition planning process to ensure continuity and stability for employees, stakeholders, and those we serve. The next leader will inherit a strong foundation, but Kim will continue leading EP!C during this transition period and work closely with current leadership and the board to provide a smooth handoff.

"We are grateful for Kim's dedication and commitment to our mission", said Dan LaTurno (CEO, Peoria Production Solutions), Chair of the Board of Directors. "We look forward to celebrating her in this next year and the lasting legacy she leaves behind."

Additional details regarding Kim's departure and the transition of future leadership will be shared in the coming months.
