HISTORY On September 1st, 1979 the Mobilization AVCRAD Control Element (MACE) was organized and Federally recognized in the Maryland Army National Guard as a Table of Distribution and Allowances (TDA) Unit. The MACE and four Aviation Classification Repair Activity Depots (AVCRAD) comprised the Aviation Depot Maintenance Round-out Unit (ADMRU). The AVCRADs span across four states with locations in: Fresno, California - 1106th AVCRAD, Springfield, Missouri - 1107th AVCRAD, Gulfport, Mississippi - 1108th AVCRAD, and Groton, Connecticut - 1109th AVCRAD. The AVCRADs maintain all of the Army National Guard (ARNG) aircraft with the assistance of each State’s Army Aviation Support Facility (AASF). Due to the increased operations tempo (OPTEMPO) and deployments of Army aviation assets, it significantly impacted the requirements for aviation logistics and maintenance support. Therefore, HQ, ADMRU mobilized and deployed in July 2006 until October 2007 in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom. The unit mobilized again in October 2010 through November 2011 in support of Operation Enduring Freedom allowing its four WARTRACE units increased dwell time in the deployment cycle. The additional requirements for Theater aviation logistics and maintenance support resulted in the Army reorganizing and expanding the capabilities of the AVCRADs and transforming them into Theater Aviation Sustainment Maintenance Group (TASMG) in October 2011.
