7th Annual Michelob Ultra El Paso Marathon - February 24, 2013

Bandit families-- Please read this posting and let us know if this is something you would be interested in volunteering your time for. We would love to enter our FRG for this opportunity to win up to $2,000! In order to do so we will need a minimum of 10 volunteers for 4-5 hours on February 24th. We are planning an 80's theme, but are always welcome and open to ideas that you have. If you are interested please contact Lacey Klein at [email protected] or Vicky Clark at [email protected]






The 7th annual El Paso Marathon will take place on February 24th from the top of TransMountain Road, to Fort Bliss, run through the Austin Terrace neighborhood, past Concordia Cemetery then on to the finish line in downtown El Paso. The marathon organizers are asking for volunteers to man the all important water stations along the way.

In order to encourage and maximize participation, the volunteers that are judged to be to the best and most enthusiastic group will have the opportunity to win one of the top three prizes ($2,000, $1000, or $500) and trophies for your service/ non-profit group.

The responsibilities of your organization will be to provide at least 10 volunteers, to make sure every runner and walker has the opportunity to obtain the proper amounts of fluid necessary to complete their chosen distance, and to provide encouragement and motivation for all participants as they push to finish strong. The runners really appreciate all the hard work that goes into each station (theme, costumes, music etc.) and in past years that the “antics” at the water stations really keep them going and maximized their entire running experience. Your group can have a great effect on the runners/walkers and can help propel them forward with energetic, realistic, and positive words/actions. There are 19 total hydration station locations on the course, four of which are on Ft. Bliss (Miles 9-12). The marathon organizers will provide the basics for running the water station including lots of water, electrolyte replacement drink, cups, trash bags, and tables. 10 members of your group is the minimum but more are encouraged and will add points for your group. Groups will be asked to commit to a 4-5+ hour time frame depending on station location.

So there are a couple of things of coming up. There next FRG meeting will be this coming Wednesday, January 16 at 1300. The location will be Bravo Company's Conference Room.

We are planning a fundraiser for 28 January from 9-11. The fundraiser will be in our motorpool.

The FRG meeting in February will be held on the 5th at 1800. Hope to see you all there.

Hello everyone. We at Bravo hope you all had a great holiday season. We'd like to remind you that there is an FRG meeting tomorrow at 1800. If would be great if we could as many people as possible to participate.

On 25JAN, Gunstone BDE will host its second annual Gunstone winter olympics at Biggs Park. This event is open to families. There will be lots of food and fun. We hope to see you all there.

Hello everyone. I hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving. There are a couple of holiday themed events coming up.

Wednesday November 28 will be the 212 Fires Brigade tree lighting ceremony in the building 21100 foyer. Soldiers and families are invited. The time will be from 1800-1900.

Thursday November 29 will be the BSB barracks decorating contest/chili cook off in barracks building 21180. All Soldiers leaders and FRG members are invited. Anyone can enter the chili cook off contest, so let me know if anyone is interested. Time for this will be from 1500-1800. I hope to see everyone there.

Our FRG will be holding a fundraiser on the 17th at 08:30 to raise funds for upcoming holiday festivities! Come by grab some yummy food and support your FRG! We will be serving hot dogs, chips, soda and nachos! Remind your spouses to bring cash with them on Monday!

Our next FRG meeting will be Tuesday the 18th at 6pm at the COF, hope to see a lot of you there. We will be discussing upcoming events, red cycle, volunteering and more.

Just wanted to take a minute and give a huge "Thank you" to everyone who came out and supported your FRG on Friday! It was a ton of fun and we had a great turn out! Raised a lot of money for future FRG events, so thank you to everyone who donated during the "Pie in the face" auction! I hope everyone enjoyed themselves!

Tomorrow is our family ORG day!! We will have lots of fun activites for the kiddos with bounce houses, face painting, and more!! Dont forget the splash park is open as well so bring swimsuits, towels and sunblock. We will also be doing a Pie in the Face fundraiser as well so bring your cash to pie your favorite member of the Command team! Party starts at 9am at Biggs Park. Food and drink will be provided. Cant wait to see everyone!

Our monthly FRG meeting will be held this Tuesday at 6pm at the Family Resilience Center. We will also be holding our Food Handlers class that same day at 4pm, same location. There is no cost to take the class. Those who wish to help with any upcoming fundraisers/ORG day should come take the class and get your card.

The FRG meeting will cover our upcoming ORG day activites and lots of important info will be given out, please join us to help make this event a success! If you would like to contribute to ORG day, can bring a bag (or 2) of chips to the meeting, or drop it off at the COF. It would be greatly appreciated! Thanks, and see you all on Tuesday!
