Who's ready for some good news? Now that face coverings are mandatory in all retail facilities on post, we were able to *slightly* increase the number of customers allowed inside. Also, if you find yourself at Freedom Crossing without a mask, we have vendors selling them at a reasonable price, and starting next week, we'll also have a vendor at the East Bliss Mini Mall. Stay safe. We'll get through this if we work together. 😷

The Secretary of Defense has authorized the use of masks in instances where social distancing cannot feasibly be maintained, such as for mission essential personnel at work centers. All individuals (Soldiers, Contractors, and DA Civilians) who are unable to maintain social distancing guidelines wear a face mask that covers the mouth and nose to minimize exposure to themselves and others. All other service members are authorized to wear masks.:

-Only colors which are specific to the duty uniform, with the addition of coyote brown and black, are authorized unless wearing a medical mask. The medical mask must be neutral or similar to the typical blue masks that medical personnel wear. Unit commanders make the determination on a case-by-case basis. There is not a requirement for an entire unit to have a mask of the same color. No logos or writing are authorized on the masks.
-Service members are authorized to wear their issued gloves and eye protection within the standards prescribed in AR 670-1.
-Effective immediately: Soldiers conducting ASP missions, either issues, turn in, or regular operations, wear a face mask. IAW FBTX guidance, neck gators, scarfs, or medical masks are appropriate.

First Army Division West's Commanding General, Maj. Gen. Frank Tate visited Fort Bliss last week. Here's what he said:

Maj. Gen. Frank Tate, commanding general for First Army Division West, visited the various Soldier quarantine sites to check on the quality of life at Fort Bliss, Texas, March 26, 2020.

With an abundance of caution and in response to the #COVID19 global pandemic, Soldiers returning from #CDC, Prevention level 2 and above countries are required to quarantine for 14 days. CDC quarantine guidelines ensure non-symptomatic people are not unknowingly spreading the virus, which also helps to ensure the health of the force.

First Army and 1st Armored Division have been working together to maintain overall readiness and the health of our force and do the right thing, the right way.

Together we will continue to support one another as we work through these challenges.

Defense Commissary Agency Update
To better serve our customers starting today, we will begin 100% I.D card checks at the entrance of all stores and will revoke the visitor policy. We believe this will reduce the number of people in our stores and help with social distancing and crowd control.
Additionally, on Thursday, March 19, we will eliminate "early bird" shopping hours to allow more time for cleaning and re-stocking of our stores. We appreciate your continued support!
