The next crisis that may be facing Veterans is eviction for not paying rent or a mortgage during this crisis - there are agencies that can help. Project Bravo is one:
Project BRAVO is working with TRLA to help pay rent to those who qualify.
Steps/Process
They must first call the TRLA hotline - 888-988-9996
Let the rep know they are calling to help prevent eviction **Please tell applicants not to ask for help paying their rent because they will refer them out make sure they say "Eviction Prevention" **
They must have an eviction notice from their landlord
They must be behind on the rent
TRLA will then refer them to us to continue the qualification screening and either approval or denial
We are also helping with Foreclosure Prevention
Steps/Process
Their delinquency on their mortgage payments must be COVID-19 related
They must provide proof of loss of job or a decrease in hours due to COVID-19
They must provide proof or illness of borrower or someone in the household from COVID-19
They must fill out an intake and return it along with the proof mentioned above to my email at [email protected]
Once they provide this information I will send them the application with a list of additional documents I will need
We will review all information, once received and either approve or deny payments
If they do not qualify for the COVID-19 related payments, we can continue with foreclosure prevention counseling

Memorial Day - a day of remembrance - we must never forget those who have given made the ultimate sacrifice - and for those Veterans who have left us during the past year - this year will be a sad year for the Veterans Business Association as we will not be able to host our annual Memorial Day Breakfast due to the "Stay Home - Stay Safe" restrictions. Please take a moment to visit the USAA link honoring the men and women that have paid the ultimate price for the freedoms that we enjoy today.

Veterans on Burn Pit Registry May Be at Greater Risk for COVID-19, Lawmakers Say

The more you know, the more you can do to help. Experts believe that deaths at home may not be properly attributed to the coronavirus due to lack of testing at home. Veterans with underlying health issues that may be related to their service are at risk - whether they are on the registry or not - do a "Buddy Check" in your area and see who may be having problems

There is concern that veterans exposed to airborne pollutants are at higher risk for serious complications of COVID-19.

It is my sad duty as the Executive Director for the Veterans Business Association to repot that one of the founding members, David Davis, passed away yesterday after a long struggle with stomach cancer. Dave was a strong supporter of the Veterans Business Resource Center and the Association. On behalf of all our members, we send out our most heartfelt condolences to his wife and extended family.

Why we all need to pay attention to how we’re spending our time - From the Green Notebook

This is an interesting article - I always ask that our elected leaders spend our money wisely but I never ask them how they spend their time?

By Joe Byerly Originally Published on We Are the Mighty Every day we use words and phrases, yet we rarely take the time to think about what they mean. For example, think about the phrase, “Spending time”. Typically we when we talk about spending, we use it in the context of time or money. Howeve...

Small business owners could derail a good operation by issuing conflicting orders. This review is well worth the read. Managers, supervisors, leaders of all types need to understand their role before throwing out orders. The "I"'s are not always right.

“In this timely and thoughtful book, Kaurin doesn’t address Trump directly but provides an invaluable guide for situations in which demands for obedience conflict with the imperatives of conscience.”

I remember. These are my thoughts, reflecting on the meaning of Memorial Day.
I have been working with homeless Veterans and Veterans in need for some time now. Holidays are always a stressful time for many people - the happiness enjoyed by others may not come into the lives of the homeless or our less fortunate friends and neighbors. The best way that we can help others in need is to BE THERE - do a "buddy" check - call a friend or family member that you have not spoken to in a while and bring along a smile for them - let them know that you care about them - it is well and good to memorialize the loss of those that gave all for the freedoms that we enjoy today but let us not forget that there are many Veterans, too many Veterans, that struggle every day just to survive - BUDDY CHECK - I am ok - how are YOU?
Today marks the beginning of a millennia old tradition - the lighting of the first candle in celebration of the Festival if Lights known as Hunukkah - in the spirit of the holiday season I wish for my Jewish friends: May this Festival of Lights bring blessing upon you and all of your loved ones for Happiness and Health. Shalom!
Tis the season - winter solstice - Hanukkah - Christmas - renewal of the soul and nature - From my house to your house - may you all have a very Merry Christmas and a Happy Holiday season.
It is such a sad and tragic event that has happened. A family is mourning the loss of Jose Manuel Clemente and his daughter who were killed in Monday's 25-vehicle crash near Lordsburg. Please consider helping Mrs. Clemente and her son as they must begin preparations to lay to rest their loved ones. This GoFund Account will assist with immediate funeral expenses, and future medical expenses for the 3 El Paso survivors. You can comment without donating! Please share the family's campaign to assist the surviving members of this tragic accident.
