Still happening today! Happy birthday Army!!

Monday is our Army's 246th birthday! Come join us, at Division HQ as we celebrate the greatest Army in the world. We will be running the Army colors continuously for 24.6 hours around a 1.5 mile route (in a relay...no one is running for 24.6 hours straight). We will begin the run on Sunday afternoon and conclude Monday afternoon right before we cut the Army birthday cake. Soldiers and family members are welcome to jump in and run a lap or two alongside the colors. We will also have static displays of vehicles and weapons, plus museum displays, for families to enjoy and several food trucks to choose from for lunch. Our entire Fort Bliss family is welcome to come have a piece of cake and join us for a day of celebrating the 246th birthday of our Army!

National Nurses Week (NNW) occurs annually May 6-12 and has been a recognized event since 1954, with the week typically coinciding with Florence Nightingale’s birthday (May 12, 1820). During this week, WBAMC will focus on honoring military and civilian nurses. WBAMC focuses on providing quality care for patients while keeping them safe and free from harm, and NNW is an opportunity to demonstrate how nursing is at the core of an integrated team effort that cares for patients.

For 2021, the theme is Unified, Reliable, Ready and supports the continued focus and recognition of the impact of nursing during COVID-19 and reinforces the unified health care team’s role in support of current Department of Defense (DoD) priorities to protect our service members, their families and our workforce; maintain military readiness to defend the nation and its interests; and support the national COVID-19 response.
