General information

About The Armed Services Blood Program is the official military blood program. Donated blood is sent to Afghanistan for our injured service members. Fort Bliss sends 20% of the blood collected here to Afghanistan. We rely on our healthy donors to supply our blood bank. O- is the universal blood donor and makes up 7% of the population. Please donate every 56 days! AB- is the rarest blood type with only 1% of the population. If you are AB+ or AB-, we encourage you to donate blood every 56 days! The Blood Donor Center is in need of platelet donors. Platelets are the clotting factor in your blood that stops the bleeding. You can donate platelets every 2 weeks.
