Hey there READY FIRST here's this week’s updates as follows:

*IMMEDIATE RELEASE: Update to Travel Restrictions
Effective APRIL 20, 2020, Secretary Esper approved an extension to the stop move order through June 30 to aid in the further prevention of the spread of COVID-19. While the Department acknowledges that this order will have great impact on our service members and their families who are looking to proceed with their lives, the rapidly changing environment has created significant risks to service members, as the DOD continues personnel movements and travel.

*Blood Drives: Every Monday & Tuesday through May 5th

Freedom Crossing and Armed Services Blood Program at Fort Bliss will host blood drives: April 27, April 28, May 4, May 5: 10 a.m.- 2 p.m. The blood mobile will be parked at the end of the Freedom Crossing parking lot near Marshall and Pike, across from Firstlight Credit Union each day.

*Online Activities:

United States Botanical Garden
As a museum with a living collection, our exhibits, displays and plants are always changing. No two visits are exactly alike! To get a feel for what you might see when you come visit the U.S. Botanic Garden, we encourage you take our virtual tour. You'll get a peek at our Conservatory, National Garden and Bartholdi Park, but the plant displays and exhibits are likely to be different each time you come.

Hawaii Botanical Garden
Come with us as we take a delightful walk through the Hawaii Tropical Botanical Garden and enjoy the tropical flowers and plans on the Big Island of Hawaii.

Take a stroll through Monet’s garden in Giverny, France, with a video tour of the famous site, courtesy of Britain’s Royal Academy of Arts. The tranquil tour is a mix of photos of the modern garden and glimpses into how it appeared in Monet’s time.

Set up a home movie theatre
Movie theaters around the country are closed, but that doesn’t mean you can’t still get your cinematic fix. At-home movie projectors have gotten a lot smaller and less expensive in recent years, allowing you to project a new release or family-friendly classic on any blank wall. Pop up some popcorn, set up the pillows, and enjoy the show!
Capturing your thoughts
Writing a journal will help you not just preserve your memories but will also help you process your feelings about this time that manages to feel simultaneously terrifying and immensely boring. You could also consider making it a gratitude journal.

Plant an herb or container garden
Just because you have to stay indoors doesn’t mean you can’t get started on your spring gardening. Grab a few herb plants while you are food shopping for the week. Bring the outdoors in by sprouting seeds or planting a container garden.

Meditation is one of the best things you can do right now to relieve stress and improve your wellbeing. If you’re like the rest of us, you sit down, try to “quiet” your mind.

Visit Africa from home

What if we said you could take a safari without getting out of your pajamas? The folks at and Beyond are Bringing Africa Home through fun and exciting virtual experiences. Their website includes curated musical playlists, movies, book recommendations, and delicious African-inspired recipes. There are even links to short wildlife videos from their lodges that are sure to delight curious kiddos (and their parents).

Take a virtual journey to Yellowstone National Park
If you’ve always wanted to visit Yellowstone National Park but never had a chance, today is your lucky day. Yellowstone National Park offers virtual tours of some of its most iconic attractions including Grand Canyon of Yellowstone, Mammoth Hot Springs, and Mud Volcano alongside amazing photos and videos of wildlife and stunning scenery at the park.

Visit the Louvre from your living room
The Louvre is one of the world’s most popular museums, with over 380,000 pieces of art, including Leonardo DaVinci’s Mona Lisa. Luckily, you don’t have to go all the way to France if you want to search for hidden messages in its famous paintings or immerse yourself in its collection.

Go underwater without getting wet
The National Aquarium in Baltimore is a magical place and home to over 20,000 birds, fish, and animals living in gorgeous natural habitats. Happily, you can still check it out, even if you’re nowhere near Baltimore. Its live broadcasting experience allows you to watch Blacktip Sharks, Reticulated Whiptail Rays, and giant Humphead Wrasses weighing up to 400 pounds in real-time via underwater cameras. You can also watch their Pacific Coral reef cam and their jellyfish invasion video. Kids will also enjoy online activities and tutorials like word searches and art projects.

The Met
is an award-winning series of six short videos invites viewers around the world to virtually visit The Met's art and architecture in a fresh, immersive way

Protecting your personal health information is important, and Social Media is a public space. We want to remind our #IronSoldiers and family members not to disclose their personal health information through social media sites, even as part of a question.
If you have symptoms or concerns, contact the applicable health care lines or your health care provider. Do not message such information to a Facebook site, to include medical facility pages such as William Beaumont Army Medical Center.

TRICARE BENEFICIARIES: What should you do if you feel sick or think you were exposed to the virus that causes COVID-19?

If you have symptoms of COVID-19, have been in close contact with a person sick with COVID-19, or traveled to an area with widespread or ongoing community spread of COVID-19, don’t make an appointment or walk into your local military hospital or clinic.

Instead, stay at home and speak with a Military Health System (MHS) registered nurse, who will assess your symptoms. The nurse can screen you for potential or suspected exposure or infection. If needed, they can coordinate a virtual visit with a health care provider.

Senior leadership at Fort Bliss is taking precautionary measures to prevent the contraction and spread of COVID-19 to protect the health of both the public and force, as well as maintain operational readiness.
Out of an abundance of caution, Soldiers returning from outside the continental U.S. from deployment or leave will be placed in quarantine for 14 days in designated areas on Fort Bliss. During the quarantine, Soldiers will not receive visitors, will be evaluated by medical professionals, and will be provided appropriate treatment if they present symptoms. There is no current requirement for quarantining Soldiers following domestic travel.
Leaves and passes are authorized locally within 100 miles of Fort Bliss at this time. All other domestic and international leaves and passes for Service members are currently unauthorized.
In addition, all official government-funded travel (temporary duty and permanent change of station) for Service members, DoD civilian personnel and DoD families is suspended through 11 May. Any exceptions may be granted by the Fort Bliss Senior Commander if the travel is determined to be mission-essential, necessary for humanitarian or medical reasons, or warranted due to extreme hardship. We are not restricting personal travel by family members, but encourage them to follow the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention guidelines as they consider travel.
Fort Bliss remains in close coordination with our City of El Paso and state public health authorities to ensure the well-being of all.
We encourage everyone to follow the guidance issued by the CDC: washing your hands with soap and water for at least 20 seconds, covering your mouth when you sneeze or cough, disinfecting frequently touched surfaces, maintaining social distancing, avoiding contact with those who have been sick, and avoiding large gatherings.
Leadership is closely monitoring the impact of COVID-19 on services for the installation community, to include clinics, schools, and child-care centers. We will continue to keep the community informed of the status of these programs and services.
We ask that the Fort Bliss community continues to follow updates via the Fort Bliss Garrison, 1st Armored Division, and William Beaumont Army Medical Center social media, and to adhere to the guidance of base leadership, CDC and DoD healthcare professionals. You may also call the Nurse Advice Line William Beaumont Army Medical Center 1-800-874-2273 (Option 1) if you have any serious medical concerns, questions or COVID-19 symptoms (fever, cough, shortness of breath). Thank you for checking with us and we will continue to keep you updated. See resources below for more information.

The work call for tomorrow, Wednesday 12 Feb, will be at 10:00 a.m.
