🏳️🌈Happy to all who celebrate. 🏳️🌈
To those who may not share in that celebration, I simply ask for you to embody the spirit of our community and show love, compassion, and respect. Our LGBTQ+ neighbors, friends, family members, and community members deserve to live openly, safely, and with dignity.
I also challenge our elected leaders to do more than offer empty symbolic gestures during Pride Month to do better and actually pass ordinances that make El Paso safer, create boards to fight the injustices, and to be better allies all year long. Making El Paso a safer, more welcoming place for everyone requires action (the same actions I proposed in 2023), not just words.
“ Pride can be a challenging period for many individuals within our community. Whether it's the anxiety of coming out to loved ones, facing hate and misunderstandings from strangers, or grappling with the self-doubt that often accompanies the journey to authenticity, it's not easy. Regardless of where you find yourself on this path, remember that our movement will always stand by you. Together, we move forward!”
