This is continuing, even twice in the last week. Please, the cemetery is not your waste basket for your garbage and dirty diapers. Trail cams will be going up….stop being disgusting.

I’m posting to ask for your help in finding out who and why these people are disrespecting the cemetery with their garbage. It happened once before a few months ago, it’s now happened twice in the past two weeks. Please share this in hopes that the people that are doing it will stop.

Elbridge Rural Cemetery is in need of volunteers for our Cemetery Board. We typically have two meetings per year and requires very little time and attention. Thanks to current and past board members, a lot has been done to make repairs and clean up this historical, active cemetery. We have recently lost our Vice President and our treasurer has moved out of state and has been good enough to continue his work until we can find a replacement. The board is crucial in keeping this cemetery active and without volunteers the cemeteries future is uncertain. We will be holding a meeting at the Elbridge Free Library on March 27 at 5:30pm. Hope to see you there.

It is with great sadness we announce the passing of our Vice president, Floyd Duger. He has been a member of our board for many years in addition to serving our community in many different roles. He was a caring and compassionate man and he will be dearly missed. Our prayers and condolences go out to his family.

Floyd C. Duger, 76, of Elbridge, NY, passed away on February 15, 2025. Born in Baldwinsville, he dedicated his life to service.
He is survived by his wife, JoAnn; daughters, Rebecca and Catherine (David); two granddaughters, Felicity and Josie; a brother, Jerry; and a sister, Alice. He was predeceased by his daughter, Pamela, and twin sons.
Floyd worked for 30 years with the USDA. After retirement, he became an ordained minister with the American Baptist Churches, and served as chaplain for the Elbridge Fire Department. He was a Town Councilor in the Town of Elbridge where he was passionate about seniors and his community.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Jordan-Elbridge Senior Citizen Program. Mail to: Town of Elbridge Attn: Senior Program PO Box 568 Jordan, NY 13080 or the Elbridge Fire Department PO Box 424 Elbridge, NY 13060 in his memory. No services will be held at this time.

If you’ve seen the caution tape in our cemetery, it’s because we are in the process of cemetery restoration! Please, if you’re coming in the cemetery, proceed with caution, as we have monuments laying down, holes dug for new foundations and possibly work crews using large, heavy equipment. It’ll be completed before the snow!!
