First day is officially in the books!

What a great way to begin the 2026-2027 school year at EASD!

Today, we welcomed nearly 3,300 students through our doors, and it didn’t take long for our classrooms, hallways, cafeterias, playgrounds, and campuses to feel like school again.

From first-day smiles and reconnecting with friends to meeting new teachers, finding new classrooms, and getting back into the rhythm of learning, Day 1 brought plenty of energy across EASD.

One day down and a whole year of opportunities ahead. Welcome back, Bears!

A Bainbridge tradition rings in a new school year!

There’s no better way to start a new year at Bainbridge Elementary than with the ringing of the bell!

Each year, Bainbridge and the surrounding community come together for this special tradition, celebrating a fresh start and officially ringing in a new school year.

Meet this year’s honorary bell ringers, then turn up the sound and watch as they officially ring in the 2026–2027 school year!

Here’s to a great year ahead!

Superintendent Tom Strickler traded the office for the show arena this afternoon at the Etown Fair, joining local and state leaders in the annual Cow Showing Competition.

It was a fun opportunity for Mr. Strickler to take part in a longtime fair tradition and celebrate the agricultural roots that remain such an important part of our community.

Thank you to the Etown Fair for a great afternoon!

How can families and schools work together to help students have a successful school year?

In Part 4, the final installment of our four-part EASD's Plan for Success series, Staying Connected for a Successful School Year, we're looking at the important role families play as partners in their child's education and how strong communication between home and school can support learning, growth, and student success.

Because family engagement isn't just about staying informed - it's about working together to help every learner thrive.

Today, EASD staff came together for Opening Day for staff to begin the 2026–27 school year with a shared focus: keeping students at the center of every decision.

As we look ahead, success means staying focused on what matters most—building coherent systems, creating meaningful learning experiences, strengthening teacher-student relationships, and working intentionally together so every student has what they need to learn, grow, and thrive.

A highlight of the day came from our students, who helped welcome staff and shared what it means to be proud to be an Elizabethtown Bear.

Thank you to our staff and students for the energy, care, and commitment they bring to EASD. We’re ready for a great year ahead.
