Honored to be recognized as Illinois American History Teacher of the Year by the Daughters of the American Revolution. As both an educator and Elk Grove Township Trustee, I believe deeply in the connection between understanding our history and actively participating in our community. Grateful for the opportunity to serve in both roles, and thankful to the colleagues, students, family, and community members who make this work meaningful every day.

Thank you so much Village of Elk Grove Village, Illinois for your historic donation to the food pantry!!! Over 20,000 items in one day has set a new record, this is truly what community looks like.

This achievement is a reminder that we are strongest when we work together, lifting each other up and showing up when it matters most.

Happy Earth Day!
Today is a reminder of how fortunate we are to live in a community that values green spaces, clean neighborhoods, and environmental responsibility. From our local parks to the small choices we make each day, protecting our planet starts right here in Elk Grove Township. Let’s continue working together to preserve our environment for future generations, we still have a lot of work to do!

As Black History Month comes to a close, we take time to reflect on the leaders, advocates, and everyday changemakers whose courage and commitment shaped our nation’s ongoing pursuit of justice and equality.

This year’s reflection is especially meaningful as we remember the life and legacy of Reverend Jesse Jackson. His decades of civil rights leadership, community organizing, and advocacy left an undeniable mark on our country and inspired generations to stay engaged and hopeful.

Here is a video of my remarks honoring his life snd contributions. I hope you’ll take a moment to watch and join me in reflecting on the impact he made and the work that continues in our communities every day.

What an honor to address these talented High School Debaters at the State Competition! I sat where they were 20 years ago as a member of the ICDA.

I talked about the power of local government (go Townships!) and urged them to stay involved in their communities. As I told these teens, they are no longer the future we’re planning for, they are the leaders we are currently counting on!

Stopped by to get some Presidents’ Day advice from Abraham Lincoln two times this year.
He reminded me that public service matters, honesty still counts… and apparently that every meeting deserves at least one good photo!!!

Happy Presidents’ Day!

For the first time, Elk Grove Township held a formal goal setting workshop with the assistance of NIU to brainstorm and create both short and long term goals. This is vital to continue to serve our residents, while continuing to grow and develop to meet the needs of our community.

Thank you to the staff, Board, NIU Directors, and residents who came out to share their opinions and vision of the Township (and stayed engaged until after 10!). It was great to see over 25 residents attend, your partnership is vital to the success of our community and I hope we continue to see an increase in community engagement.

Stay tuned in the coming weeks to see this process finish and have the beginnings of a long term strategic plan.

2. Written Input Activities: Beginning at 5:30 PM, attendees may participate in optional poster-board exercises focused on:
