I had the privilege of spending time with students from the Chicano Latino Youth Leadership Project. These students are extraordinary, their speeches spoke passionately about the challenges they face around culture, community, and college access.

We no longer have to look to the future for our leaders, they are here, now. I can’t wait to see the impact these students bring back home to their schools and communities.

Tonight at City Council, we have a full agenda, but one of the items I’m especially looking forward to is appointing three new Youth Commissioners.

These young leaders will help bring fresh ideas, new perspectives, and the voices of Elk Grove’s next generation to City Hall. Investing in our youth means investing in the future of our community, and I’m excited to welcome them to public service.

Had a great time at the AJGA golf tournament at Valley Hi Country Club, spending the day with our good friend Colin from Republic Services, Anthony from Wilton Rancheria, and an incredible group of community partners. It was also great to see junior amateur Derek Lee in action and thanks for putting up with my “best” golf! ⛳️😄

A special thank you to Visit Elk Grove for always showing up and supporting the events we host here in our city. Partnerships like these help showcase everything that makes Elk Grove such a special place to live, work, and visit.

Last month, the Elk Grove City Council adopted our Fiscal Year 2026–2027 balanced budget of $491 million.

I’m grateful to our City Manager, Jason Behrmann, Budget Manager Nathan Bagwill, city staff, and my fellow Councilmembers for the collaboration and hard work that made this budget possible.

This budget makes meaningful investments in our community, including:
✅ The Whitelock Parkway/State Route 99 Interchange
✅ Street maintenance and pavement rehabilitation
✅ Support for permanent homeless shelter development
✅ Our first-time homebuyer Down Payment Assistance Program
✅ Continued funding of city reserves and pension obligations to ensure long-term fiscal sustainability

Every budget is a reflection of our priorities. I’m proud that we’re investing in infrastructure, housing, public safety, and the long-term financial health of our city while maintaining a balanced budget.

Thank you, Elk Grove, for continuing to trust me to serve our community. Together, we’re building a stronger future for everyone.

As a council member, you set goals and work toward them.

One of mine has always been helping strengthen Elk Grove, support small businesses, and make our region better. Along the way, I was excited to support Xavier Becerra’s campaign for Governor.

Yesterday was a special moment.

When Xavier announced 14 months ago, I sent a simple text: “How can I help?”

Now, with November ahead, I’m honored to be on the ballot alongside Xavier Becerra.

Looking forward to the work ahead.

Huge thank you to Cathy Rodriguez of the Sacramento Hispanic Chamber for helping bring together a powerful Latino roundtable with Congresswoman Doris Matsui and Chair of the House Democratic Caucus Congressman Pete Aguilar.

We covered the issues that matter most to our Sacramento region, community, business, education, and local priorities.

This is just the first of many conversations, and it’s clear: Latinos are at the table and our voices are being heard.
