Great advice!
🎒🚸 Back to School! Please Slow Down & Stay Alert 🚸🎒
Tomorrow is the first day of school! Let’s help our students get to and from school safely.
đźš— Drivers:
Slow down, watch for kids walking/biking, and stay alert in school zones and near bus stops.
Put the phone down, expect heavier traffic, and give yourself extra time.
🚶 Parents & Students:
Use crosswalks, look both ways, make eye contact with drivers, and walk—don’t run—across the street.
If biking or scooting, wear a helmet. Stay alert and avoid phone distractions near traffic. If you drive your children to school, be aware of designated drop-off areas and ensure they exit the vehicle curbside, away from traffic.
🚌 School Bus Reminder:
If the bus is stopped with flashing red lights—STOP. 🛑It's the law and it protects our kids. You must now stop at least 20 feet from the bus whenever the red lights are flashing. The stop arm does not have to be extended. This MN law update closes a loophole where drivers previously may have tried to “beat the arm” when passing a bus, a risky move that puts children in danger.
Let’s make the first day (and every day!) a safe one. 💙
Welcome back, students! Have a great school year, Rogers!
