Hi again friends! Remember those cool projects we hinted at recently? Well, the first one is about to go live!

Our website is about to get a facelift that we hope will make it easier to use, will allow more inclusion of our branch communities, and well, will just be plain fun!

So don't be surprised if you see some changes and let us know what you think!

We are beginning to reopen (we know, we missed you too!) This process will be gradual, initially limited in scope, and scaled up as soon as we are able. Click here for information on current limitations, guidelines, and to find information on specific branches.

Greetings friends! Just a little check in. We hope you are all doing well! 😁

We are getting ready to move on some of the projects we have going on. A few grants are getting ready to be implemented (we'll post some more information as we start, but we can't wait to share), we're getting ready to celebrate our 100th birthday (so many fun things planned and we hope you will celebrate with us), and some upcoming changes to policies and procedures that we hope will keep the library a fun place to be.

If you have any suggestions, ideas, comments, please feel free to reach out! We want to hear from you. And to make it easier, we have even put "Fun Idea" boxes in all of our branches or you can reach out to the library Director, Kassie Antonucci, directly.

We're so excited to see the mural coming together and appreciate everyone who has taken the time to help paint 🤩 It's going to look amazing once complete! Feel free to come hang out this weekend during the art festival and check it out (there are some other cool things going on). Check out Elko Arts and Culture for more information.

Hi Friends! Just wanted to let everyone know to expect some road construction in front of the Elko County Library this afternoon/tomorrow morning. It shouldn't take long, but parking will be slim and patrons may be requested to move your vehicles as needed.

Library Mural - Book Title Poll

Good afternoon friends! I'm not sure if you heard yet, but the Elko County Library was chosen as a mural recipient during this year's first Elko Art Festival (9/9 - 9/12). Elko Arts and Culture has the specifics, but it is going to be a fun time!

We're super excited for the artwork and are working on selecting titles of books to be included in the mural (because we're a library, duh!). While staff are working hard to get a good balance of titles and authors that represent us and our community, we want to hear from you too!

If you have a title or author you would like for us to consider, please submit it using this google form. We;ll accept submissions through 9/6 to give us time to sort through them. 🧐

The Elko County Library has been selected as part of this year's Art and Culture mural project. We have been given the honor of choosing titles to go on books within the mural, but we also want to hear from you. Do you have a favorite book that makes you think of the library? Do you know a Nevada au...

Elko County Library

Afternoon friends! We just wanted to let everyone know that after being turned off due to all the closures in the last year, our notification system has been reinstated. Unfortunately, instead of only doing current notifications, it seems to be going back a few years and making calls on items that have already been resolved.

If you receive multiple calls or calls about an item you have already resolved, we are so sorry! It is not really in our control and hopefully will phase out quickly. 😫

If you are not sure about an item, you can always call us at 775-738-3066 or check your account in the catalog.

We would like to thank everyone who participated in this year's Summer Reading Program. It was such a blast! 🤩

ALSO! A Humongous shout out and thank you to Nevada Gold Mines (who sponsored the program), Total Eyecare (who sponsored the art contest), and the Nevada State Library and Archives (who provided our online platform Beanstack); without their support, we would not have been able to run this year's program and make it the success it was. 🥰

Hello Friends! I wanted to say we're on track for some of the cool changes coming up later this year but we have hit a bit of a delay in changing our Elko hours to the daily 9-7 we were hoping for.

With any luck, it shouldn't be much longer, but we apologize for any disappointment 😔 We were pretty excited too. But don't worry, its not a "never thing", just a "little bit longer" thing.

Does Your Library Have a Library Telescope Program? A Library Telescope is a telescope owned by a library that can be borrowed just like a book. Usually it’s a modified Orion 4.5” StarBlast Reflector Telescope. What better way to bring astronomy to the youth of today, than to give them access to a quality telescope? Having a parent, or other adult, borrow the telescope and amaze a child with views of the Moon or a planet, could make a lasting impression. Maybe even lead to a career in astronomy or some other science. Hundreds of libraries across the United States have Library Telescope Programs that have been remarkably successful. A library can get a telescope program going for under $400. The telescope is modified in various ways so it is less likely to be damaged and parts are less likely to be lost. Shouldn’t your library have a Library Telescope Program? For more information see www.LibraryTelescope.org and page: Library Telescope.
Hello Everybody, UNLV is working with the Nevada Department of Education to learn more about what parents with young children need in Elko County ! We want to increase resources for young children such as access to early childhood care, education, health, and other resources in Elko County. We know that each community wants and needs different things, and want to make sure to hear directly from your community. This group discussion will be an opportunity to learn about how Nevada can best serve you, your children, and your community. To thank families, refreshments will be available, parents can bring their children, and we will have prizes! Families can RSVP by calling, e-mailing, or using the link below. Please share this information. Please let us know if you have any questions. 702-895-1121 [email protected]

“Whimsical, thought-provoking, deftly crafted, "This Is Me, Not Robert Creeley, Speaking " clearly showcases Paul Bussan's genuine flair for deftly crafted, succinct, and memorable free verse. This brief compendium of his work is very highly recommended for personal reading lists.” -The Midwest Book Review, June, 2017
