Processing times for U.S. passport applications have not been impacted by the federal government shutdown, Clerk of Courts Tom Orlando said in a news release. The U.S. Passport Agency is anticipated to stay operational during the shutdown and will keep issuing passports, he said.

We hope everyone had an enjoyable, safe Independence Day! Both of our office locations are open on Friday, July 5th for your titling, watercraft registration, and passport needs. As a reminder, our normal hours of operation (excluding holidays) are as follows:

Lorain Auto Title & Passport Office:
• Monday 8:15 am – 6:30 pm
• Tuesday – Friday 8:15 am – 4:30 pm

Elyria Auto Title & Passport Office:
• Monday 8:15 am – 4:30 pm
• Tuesday 8:15 am – 6:30 pm
• Wednesday – Friday 8:15 am – 4:30 pm

In an effort to better serve our customers, the Auto Title & Passport Division of the Lorain County Clerk of Courts is pleased to announce the launch of extended operating hours on Tuesday evenings in the Elyria Branch office. The extended operating hours will begin on Tuesday, June 25, 2024 and continue thereafter each Tuesday evening with the exception of observed holidays. Effective 6/25/2024, the public hours of operation of the Elyria Branch will be:

Monday: 8:15 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Tuesday: 8:15 a.m. to 6:30 p.m.
Wednesday, Thursday, Friday: 8:15 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
closed Saturday and Sunday

The Elyria Branch office, located on the first floor of the Lorain County Administration Building, offers the following services: motor vehicle and watercraft titling, watercraft registration, passport application processing, and passport/I.D. photos. The Elyria and Lorain offices of the Clerk’s Auto Title & Passport Division will be OPEN to the public on Monday, April 8, 2024 from 8:15 am until noon. The office is closing at noon due to the expected influx of visitors to witness the total solar eclipse. Normal hours of operation will resume on Tuesday, April 9th.
