Today (8/31) is the FINAL day of the Cameron County Dinosaur Scavenger Hunt! You have until the end of the day to either find all 25 dinosaurs or at least as many as you can. Rumor has it that our dino pals are planning on disappearing, so you better act quick before they vanish forever!

We hope that all of you have had the most RAWRSOME summer tracking down dinosaurs, and we hope you got the opportunity to visit places in Cameron County that you've never explored before. We'll be pulling raffle tickets tomorrow (9/1). Thank you again to CCOYA for collaborating with us on such a DINO-MITE community program!

As you're wrapping up your dino hunting, remember that you can win an Amazon Gift Card just for tagging your photos with . This is separate from the prize baskets and grand prize drawing for finding the dinosaurs.
The Dino Hunt officially ends August 30, but we will accept entries through August 31. All prize raffles will be conducted on September 1.

This week is the FINAL week of the Cameron County Dinosaur Scavenger Hunt! Our dino pals are about to leave Cameron County, so you better act quick before they disappear forever. You have until Monday, August 31st to find ALL 25 dinosaurs, or at least find as many as you can! 🦖✨

If you've found your first 5 dinos, please stop by the library to claim your instant prize. For every 5 you find afterward, you may stop at the library to receive one raffle ticket to potentially win a RAWRSOME prize. If you find all 25, you get entered for our big prize giveaway!

So, if you haven't started your hunt already, be sure to stop by the library early this week to pick up a scavenger hunt list!

Just as a reminder, for the first five dinosaurs found, you get an instant prize. Today, we pause to remember Sam Neill (September 14, 1947 – July 13, 2026), whose unforgettable portrayal of Dr. Alan Grant inspired generations to look at dinosaurs with a sense of wonder.

As Dr. Grant, he reminded us that dinosaurs aren't just fossils from the past—they're stories waiting to be uncovered. More importantly, he showed us that the greatest adventures aren't about simply finding something. They're about the curiosity, the discoveries, and the memories we make along the way.

As you and your family continue exploring Cameron County during our Dino Scavenger Hunt, we invite you to do so in honor of Dr. Grant. Take your time. Notice the places you visit. Snap a few photos, share a few laughs, and enjoy every moment of the adventure together.

Because in the end, the real treasure isn't just finding dinosaurs—it's the journey of discovery that brings us closer to each other and to the incredible world around us.

🦖🇺🇸 Do you have family/friends coming in for the 4th of July? Are you looking for a fun activity for the holiday weekend? Then the library's Dinosaur Scavenger Hunt is perfect activity for you! 🦕🔍 Be sure to stop by the library to grab your scavenger hunt lists. Also, with Weekend in the Wilds coming this weekend, it's the most RAWRSOME opportunity to track down some dinosaurs!

Just as a friendly reminder, the library will be closed on Saturday (7/4) & Monday (7/6). We'll reopen on Tuesday (7/7), so be sure to stop by the library before then to grab a scavenger hunt list!

Also, some locations on the list might have different holiday hours. So be sure to check their websites and social media pages before making any road trip plans.

🦕😲 Dinosaur Sign On The Loose! 🦕😲

We were notified that our dinosaur sign at the Cameron County Overlook is missing. Apparently that dinosaur got restless and wanted to explore! 🤣 We do have a laminated sign placed at the Overlook for the time being. However, if the wind blew our original sign into your backyard, or if you spotted it along the road somewhere, could you please either return it to the library or place it at the Overlook again? We'd greatly appreciate it! 🌬️🦖

🦖🔍 Attention, Dinosaur Hunters! 🔎🦖

We've been informed that parts of Woodland Elementary School have been closed off for construction. The entrance to the Gary Dubler Memorial Trail won't be accessible via the elementary school parking lot. 🏗️ 🚫 However, there are alternate entrances for you to find 3 of the Dubler Trail Dinosaur Signs. Please stay out of current construction zones for your own safety.

For the Gary Dubler Memorial Trail & Trail Entrance Dino Signs, you can park at Fuel On and walk the d**e embankment closest to the yellow bridge before you get to Tannery Heights. For the Dubler Trail Wetland Pond, you can find the sign by accessing the Cameron County Fairgrounds.
