Last week, I had the opportunity to stop in at the Bowie Apartments, where local artists are hard at work creating a 72-foot-high mural made up of 60 panels that will be installed on the building’s exterior.

Public art is essential to our community, bringing life and meaning to spaces that might otherwise feel blank or underutilized. Erie’s creative community is truly incredible, and this project is a powerful example of that talent in action. Thank you to all the artists helping bring this vision to life!

I encourage anyone interested to stop down and take part. Community Painting Days are happening now through June 7:
👉 Fridays 5:00 - 8:00 PM
👉 Saturdays 12:00 - 3:00 PM and 5:00 - 8:00 PM

May is a busy month, and as we celebrate so many important moments across our community, we also recognize Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month.

The City of Erie is proud to celebrate the vibrant cultures, traditions, and contributions of the AAPI community. We’re grateful for the many ways AAPI residents help shape our neighborhoods, share their stories, and strengthen our city year-round.

It was an honor to join Taylor's HOPE for the 4th Annual “An Afternoon of HOPE” in Perry Square. What started with just six organizations has grown into a strong community effort, bringing together more than 25 local organizations focused on education, awareness, and support surrounding substance use disorder, mental health, and the dangers of illegal drugs.

Addressing these challenges takes all of us working together with compassion, understanding, and hope. Thank you to everyone who attended and continues making a difference in our community.
