About Essex Westford School District

The year 2015 was a turning point for education in our communities of Essex Junction, Essex Town, and Westford. After months of study and deliberation, the community members who had formed the Regional Education District Study Committee recommended unification for our school districts. In November of 2015, the voters resoundingly agreed that we would be “Bette

r Together,” and approved the formation of a new unified union school district. Starting on July 1, 2017 the Chittenden Central Supervisory Union and Essex Town School District will officially unify to become the Essex Westford School District. EWSD Facebook Disclaimer
The official Essex Westford School District page is created and maintained by the Communications and Public Relations Coordinator for the purpose of communicating and engaging with the families and residents of the Essex, Essex Junction, and Westford communities. EWSD schools and programs may have additional pages that are maintained by other individuals. On all pages, it is expected that participants treat each other with respect.

🏆 EHS and CTE were honored as gold-level asthma-friendly schools for 2025-26. Nurse Alyssa Jacobs was singled out for her efforts in helping both schools earn this honor.

The Vermont Department of Health’s Asthma-Friendly Schools Program annually recognizes schools that demonstrate the strongest commitment to improving and maintaining asthma-friendly policies and practices and promoting good asthma management among students.

Several relatives of Thomas Fleming, the school’s beloved former custodian and namesake, stopped by for a tour, including grandchildren and cousins.
