Essex Westford School District

Essex Westford School District Established in 2017, EWSD serves approximately 3,300 students (preK-12) across three communities!

About Essex Westford School District

The year 2015 was a turning point for education in our communities of Essex Junction, Essex Town, and Westford. After months of study and deliberation, the community members who had formed the Regional Education District Study Committee recommended unification for our school districts. In November of 2015, the voters resoundingly agreed that we would be “Bette

r Together,” and approved the formation of a new unified union school district. Starting on July 1, 2017 the Chittenden Central Supervisory Union and Essex Town School District will officially unify to become the Essex Westford School District. EWSD Facebook Disclaimer

The Heavenly Food Pantry, located at the First Congregational Church on Main Street in Essex Junction, will be open to residents of Essex, Essex Junction, and Westford on Monday, September 14, from 5:30-7:30 p.m.

Beginning at 5:30, families arriving will be given a number, and they will wait in the sanctuary for their number to be called. They will then be registered and guided to the food pantry, where a volunteer will greet and es**rt them around, allowing them to make selections of their choosing. After food is gathered, it will be weighed (information for pantry use only), and another volunteer will bring the food to the family’s vehicle. Shopping carts will be made available for those within walking distance of the pantry.

As usual, there are no income requirements to visit the food pantry and a variety of food is available to everyone; however, additional food is provided by the USDA to eligible persons who fall below federally mandated guidelines. The pantry does ask persons visiting to bring proof of residence (current utility bill with physical address listed) as well as identification for each household member, including children. Those not able to attend the pantry may call the Church office at 878-5745 Ext. 4 between 9:00 a.m. and noon today or Monday to leave contact information (name, address, number of family members, phone number) so arrangements for delivery can be made. Follow-up calls to complete registration and schedule deliveries will be made Monday morning. Registration must be completed by telephone before a delivery can be scheduled, so please be sure to leave a number at which you can be reached Monday morning.

The next food pantry distribution will be on Thursday, September 24, from 3-6 p.m.

The playground area at Westford recently received some big updates!

The blacktop/courts were completely replaced and freshly painted, and new playground equipment was installed, including a new climber and slide. Our grounds crew also gave the playground some extra attention by rototilling the area and adding fresh wood chips.

We have removed the image and appreciate those who took the time to share their feedback with us. Moving forward, EWSD will not use AI to create images for our communications.

🐾 As we settle into the school year, a friendly reminder that EWSD school grounds, including fields and playgrounds, are not open to the public during the school day.

Please leave your four-legged friends at home while school is in session and enjoy one of the many other great places in our community to walk your pup. Thanks for helping us keep our schools safe! 🏫🐶
