Truth on the streets Truth on the streets, answer me this, how does harassing a volunteer help anything? Is she the owner of the organization? Does she make decisions or sit on the board? No. So instead of taking your concerns to the people actually in charge, you continue targeting volunteers who are simply trying to help those in need.

You’re really good at avoiding the actual source while creating scenes and posting cherry-picked video clips after provoking reactions from people trying to make a difference.

If you truly want change, interview the people who actually make decisions. Stop taking advantage of the homeless for attention and maybe try genuinely helping someone for once.

We will be deleting the GoFundMe for the stranded young man, as we have officially reached (and exceeded) our goal. This is to prevent any additional funds from being contributed, as we now have more than enough to help get the 22-year-old from Minnesota back up and on his feet.

We are beyond grateful for the outpouring of support from our community. Special thanks to Juanita’s Latina Store and Taylor’s Tow Yard for going out of their way to help during such a difficult situation. What started as a heartbreaking circumstance, being robbed and left feeling unwelcome, has turned into something powerful because of all of you.

We are still currently working with him to figure out the best plan moving forward, based on what he wants to do. He is an adult and is allowed to make his own decisions. However, that does not give anyone an excuse to vandalize or destroy his car.

At this time, he may be interested in parting ways with the vehicle, but that is still up in the air. We were able to get tires, but unfortunately the rims we received are 4-lug, while the Honda Civic requires 5-lug rims, so we are still navigating that piece as well.

I will do my best to answer questions within reason, but please understand that in this organization, we deeply respect people’s privacy. We love being transparent and sharing updates so you all know we truly stand behind our mission, but we will never exploit someone’s situation.

We appreciate when those we help feel comfortable sharing their experiences and being vulnerable on camera, but that is never expected or required in order to receive help. This particular situation simply caught our attention, and clearly the community’s as well.

Took some pizza down to the local camp here in Cottage Grove today. 🍕

Even when we don’t have much, it still matters to give what we can. We may not be able to fix everything for everyone, but together, even small acts can make this world a little kinder to live in. ❤️

Good news & a quick update ❤️

After talking with the tow yard, they originally quoted us $1700, but they’re willing to work with us and bring it down to $250 🙌

Now the only thing standing in the way of getting him back on the road is replacing all four wheels. We’re looking for:

• 15-inch rims
• Tire size: 195/65R15
• A full set (all four)

If we can get those, plus jump the battery and put some gas in, he’ll be able to get back on the road and head out again.

Thanks to everyone who donated, we truly believe we’ve raised enough to make this happen. The hardest part now is just finding the rims and tires.

I also want to clear something up, he’s 22, from Minnesota, and has been traveling the country experiencing life and working toward his next steps. During that time, his car was vandalized and his belongings (including his ID and laptop) were stolen. He didn’t deserve that, especially after working hard for everything he had.

She didn’t just help, she got him an incredibly nice phone, way more than we ever expected. This kind of kindness truly makes a difference, and we are so grateful.

Hi everyone,

I wanted to share an update and ask for help for someone many of you in the Cottage Grove community may recognize—the situation with his car has actually been circulating locally.

He’s a 22-year-old from Minnesota who came out here after some disagreements at home and has been trying to survive on his own. Recently, things took a hard turn. After running out of gas, he was stranded and ended up losing his car entirely as a place to stay. Not long after, the car was vandalized and all four wheels were stolen.

On top of that, he was also robbed and had several important personal items taken, including his laptop, ID, and other belongings. Right now, he’s basically left with nothing and nowhere stable to go.

He’s been safe with members of the local community since I met him, and I’ve also been in contact with his mom back in Minnesota, who would like him to come home.

We’ve started a GoFundMe with a goal of $300. The plan is to use it to help get him back to Minnesota safely and provide a phone with minutes so he can stay in contact with his mom during the trip.

If he chooses not to return home, the funds will instead go toward basic survival needs here—like a tent, cot or wagon, and other essentials to help him stay safe and protected.

If you’re able to help or share, it would mean a lot. Every bit goes directly toward helping him get back on his feet and into a safer situation.
