Facebook Terms of Use/Community Guidelines Volunteers of America Texas encourages all of our online friends to comment and "post" on our page. We strive to manage a positive online space where our constituents can feel free to express themselves. We understand that some conversations around articles, blog posts, events, videos, organizational initiatives and other content on this page or linked to this page can create strong opinions which can lead to debates and passionate responses. For that reason, when comments or posts descend into derogatory remarks, personal attacks, inappropriate content or confusing streams of irrelevant content, we reserve the right to remove comments on our pages and potentially move the conversations offline (either onto email or discussions via phone). We want to see your comments and posts that: • Are "on topic" and that respond to the content in our posts • Are responses to comments left by other readers • Are reasonably brief and to the point • Have a positive/constructive tone • Are open to being contradicted by other readers • Might disagree with the content in the article or post, but never insult the writer of the article or blog post, or other commenters; we’re all “friends,” after all We would rather not see comments and posts that: • Are not "on topic" or are not responding to other comments or the content in the article or blog post • Are excessively longwinded or negative • Are insulting to the writer, the organization or previous commenters We will immediately delete, without notice, comments and posts, that: • Are unlawful, harmful, threatening, abusive, harassing, defamatory, vulgar, obscene, hateful, or contain racially, ethnically or similarly objectionable content • Are personal attacks, including name-calling or celebrations of another person's misfortune • Are injurious to the reputations or privacy of Volunteers of America staff, volunteers and clients • Are false statements or unrelated to Volunteers of America programs and ministry • Contain advertising or spam • Are incomprehensible or do not contribute to reasonable dialogue • Are disruptive, including personal conversations better suited for private messaging • Violate any of Facebook's Terms of Use and Code of Conduct Constant or extreme violations of Volunteers of America Texas’ Facebook community rules will cause a commenter to be "defriended," blocking them from making future posts or comments on the page. In cases of extreme abuse, Volunteers of America Texas will report violations to Facebook and permanently ban offenders from the page. We are looking forward to your thoughtful, respectful and constructive dialogue on our page. Thanks for being our friend!

Thank you, Frito-Lay for donating 550 cases of product for our home bound seniors, veterans, residential treatment and re-entry clients and persons with disabilities in our group homes and others struggling to access food.

#FritoLay has generously provided shelf stable snack items to Volunteers of America Texas that are K-12 compliant (i.e., low sodium, high grain, etc.). These snacks will be distributed across our North Texas facilities serving more than 600 residents, 24 hours a day, who are considered some of the most vulnerable in our community. In addition, Blackmon Mooring graciously volunteered their truck and staff, Brian Head and Michael Garcia, to pick up the product from the #FritoLay Lay Warehouse and unload it at the main office along with community volunteers Wade Lewis and Matt Head. Thank you to #FritoLay employees Johnny Reyes and Tyrus Bartholmew who loaded the truck at the warehouse and made sure we had everything secure for the trip.

We are so grateful for this donation and on behalf of those we serve – “Thank You!”

General information

Based on our name, you might assume our organization is led by or dedicated to managing volunteers. Instead, we are a volunteer organization in the most traditional sense of the word that our founders knew in the 1800s. “To volunteer” in those days meant any individual willing to step forward to serve, whether a paid employee or a volunteer giving time in today’s sense. Today, Volunteers of America Texas has more than 300 employees leading and serving in social service programs across the state, supported by the generous donations of time and money from caring, concerned individuals in the communities we serve.
