Another Evansville banner reveal! 💥

This one tells a little story about The “Who” of our town. ❤️

Evansville was named after Evans Evanson, an early settler connected to the Pony Express era and that rugged pioneering spirit that helped shape communities like ours beginning in 1858.

This banner also highlights the very first edition of the Evansville Enterprise in 1881, because let’s be honest… small town newspapers were the original Facebook. 😄 They kept the community connected long before social media ever existed.

And front and center is the City Water Fountain installed in 1903 by Otto Moody. Evansville City, Minnesota Back then, it wasn’t just decoration. It was a gathering place, a stopping point, and part of everyday life in a growing town.

One of my favorite things about this project is that these banners will get people to stop, look around, ask questions, and reconnect with the stories sitting right here in our own backyard.

Huge thank you to the Evansville Historical Foundation for helping preserve and share the history that makes this community so special.

This project was made possible in part by a grant provided by the LRAC Arts Resources through funding from the Minnesota State Legislature through the Arts and Cultural Heritage Fund.

More banners and more stories are coming soon. ✨

Join us and take a moment to pay your respects 💙❤️🤍

Wow! #2! Check this out!! Why we love Evansville! A lot of work done in history went into building what we have now! Their preserverance led to our progress today!

💥 Another Banner Unveiling 💥4️⃣ left!!

There are some places that hold history… and then there are places that hold people together.

That is Evansville.

We are excited to begin sharing the stories behind the landmarks, buildings, traditions, and moments that helped shape this community into what it is today. Some of these stories are easy to miss unless you stop, ask questions, or spend time with the incredible people at the Evansville Historical Foundation preserving them for future generations.

What makes Evansville special is not just its history. It is the foundation of community underneath it all. Neighbors helping neighbors. Families building traditions. Volunteers showing up. Faith, resilience, hard work, and people who continue to care deeply about this town and its story.

This project is made possible in part by a grant provided through the Lake Region Arts Council (LRAC) with funds from the McKnight Foundation. We are grateful for their support in helping preserve and celebrate the stories that continue to shape our community.

This is just the beginning of highlighting the places and people that helped build Evansville into the heart-centered community it is today.

Thank you to the Evansville Historical Foundation for protecting and sharing the history that keeps these stories alive. ❤️
