As we approach Memorial Day, the Exeter Police Department joins our community in honoring and remembering the brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice while serving our country. Their courage and dedication will never be forgotten.

Please be advised that the Town of Exeter Memorial Day Parade and ceremonies will take place on Monday, May 25, 2026. The day will begin with a ceremony at Swasey Parkway at 10:00 a.m. and continue along Front Street to Gale Park, with guest speakers and a flag ceremony. The ceremonies will conclude at the Exeter Cemetery.

Motorists should expect minor, short-term, localized traffic delays in the area surrounding the parade route and ceremonies. We respectfully ask for the public’s patience and understanding as we work to ensure a safe event for all attendees.

We thank our community for joining us in honoring those who gave their lives in service to our nation.

From past to present — 46 years of police service captured in one photo. 🚔

Our fleet has changed a lot over the decades, but our commitment to serving and protecting our community has remained the same.

Starting on the top is our 1980 cruiser, a classic Checker Marathon, a vehicle best known for its rugged reliability and iconic role as the famous New York taxicab. Built to last, these cruisers represented an era of policing that relied on durability and simplicity.

Next is our black-and-white Ford Ta**us Police Interceptor (FPIS) from 2013-2019, a cruiser many officers and residents will remember patrolling our streets during a time when modern technology and equipment were rapidly changing law enforcement.

Finally, is our current Ford Explorer Police Interceptor, featuring our modern black-and-blue high visibility reflective design — combining advanced safety, performance, and visibility for today’s policing needs.

I’m sure we missed some designs and not pictured are our beloved Chevrolet Caprice’s and the iconic Ford Crown Victoria. Though the vehicles have evolved over nearly half a century, one thing has stayed constant: the dedication of the officers behind the wheel.

Subject: Arrest on Felony Charges Following April Road Rage Incident

Exeter, New Hampshire — On the morning of May 6, 2026, Curtis Candiano, age 47, of Exeter, New Hampshire, turned himself in to authorities on an active warrant stemming from a road rage incident that occurred last month.

The warrant originates from an incident reported on April 11, 2026, at approximately 11:33 p.m. in the area of Linden Street in Exeter. According to complaints, Candiano was involved in an altercation during which he allegedly threatened multiple individuals with a firearm.

Candiano is charged with the following offenses:

• Reckless Conduct – Deadly Weapon (Class B Felony)
• Criminal Threatening – Conduct with a Firearm (Class B Felony)
• Reckless Operation (Violation)
• Driving After Revocation (Violation)

Following his arrest, Candiano was released on personal recognizance bail. He is scheduled to appear in the 10th Circuit Court on July 9, 2026.

This case was investigated by members of the Patrol Division in coordination with the Criminal Investigative Division.

All individuals are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.

Maple had a paws-itively great time visiting a local class today!

Detective Teixeira and our comfort dog Maple stopped by to spend some time with the students, and it’s safe to say she was the star of the show. From belly rubs to big smiles, the kids absolutely loved having her there and Maple loved every minute of the attention.

Visits like these are a great reminder of the positive impact comfort dogs can have in our community, helping kids feel relaxed, supported, and just a little bit happier. They also play an important role in building strong, positive relationships between our department and the community we serve.

Thank you to the class for welcoming Maple—we can’t wait to come back!

🚓🐾 K9 Demonstration Success! 🐾🚓

On Saturday, April 18, 2026, Officer Kennedy and K9 BoBo proudly participated in the YMCA Healthy Kids Day held at 56 Linden Street from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM.

This event marked a special milestone — it was BoBo’s very first public demonstration, and it couldn’t have gone better! The day was a huge success, filled with positive interactions between our officers and the children in attendance. Events like these are a great reminder of how important community connections are, and honestly—it’s easy when you have such incredible police dogs leading the way.

We’d also like to extend a special thank you to the Derry and Manchester Police Departments for assisting with the demonstration. Their support helped ensure everything ran smoothly and made BoBo’s debut even more memorable.

Great job to everyone involved, and especially to K9 BoBo on a fantastic first performance! 🐕💙

🚨 SCAM ALERT – FRAUDULENT TOLL TEXT MESSAGES 🚨
We’ve received reports from residents about a widespread “smishing” (SMS phishing) scam targeting New Hampshire drivers.

📱 What’s happening:
Residents are receiving text messages claiming they owe unpaid tolls, often appearing to come from “NH-Pass” or “DMV-NH.” These messages may threaten legal action, late fees, or even suspension of your registration. Many include a link or QR code prompting immediate payment.

⚠️ These messages are fraudulent. Do NOT click the link or scan the QR code.

👉 Important facts to know:
• The NH E-ZPass system does NOT send text messages about tolls or fines
• The NH DMV does NOT text about payments or violations (only appointment reminders)
• The State of New Hampshire will not text you regarding traffic violations

🔎 How to protect yourself:
• Do not click on links in unexpected messages
• Do not provide personal or financial information
• Verify your account only through the official E-ZPass website or app

📢 If you receive one of these messages:
• Forward the text to 7726 (SPAM), then delete it
• Report it to the FTC or FBI Internet Crime Complaint Center
• You may also contact the NH Attorney General’s Consumer Protection Hotline at 1-888-468-4454

These scams often try to create urgency—such as threatening additional fees or license suspension within 24 hours—to pressure you into acting quickly. Take a moment to verify before responding.

Please join us in welcoming our newest officer, Jeffrey Gilman. Officer Gilman started with the Exeter Police Department on April 13, 2026 and is currently assigned to our Field Training Program on the day shift. A New Hampshire native, Jeff is scheduled to attend the New Hampshire Police Academy beginning later this year as he continues his journey in law enforcement.

We’re excited to have Officer Gilman on our team and look forward to supporting him as he begins his career in public service. Congratulations!
