As our swim season comes to a close, see the message below for a recap of our successful swim team season from our Head Coach, Jacob Vannoy:

Hello Applecross!
While I was proud of how well everything went with last summer's swim team, this year I was even more so. We had a great turnout, with 17 new faces joining us and many returning from previous years, bringing our number of Applecross Swim Team Members to over 40! As the season progressed, the swimmers hit their best times and even scored higher than some of the major swim clubs in this area during our swim meets, proving that they have the speed and technique required to be strong competitive athletes.

This then brings us to this summer's Championship Swim Meet where 5 swim teams competed: Applecross Country Club, Brandywine-Lionville YMCA, Kennet-Jennersville YMCA, St. Anthony's Swim Club, and West Chester Area YMCA. We were the smallest team there, but we were still strong and able to compete. During this long and intense, 2-day, 4 session swim meet, we had 35 top 16 swims: a few first-place swims, many in the top 3, and even more in the top 8. We even had two 3rd place relays and a 2nd place relay during this swim meet! This is a massive increase to the 25 top 16 swims that we had our previous year!

I am very proud with how our Applecross Sharks did this year. They put forth a lot of effort, dedication, and even energy into this summer's swim team to make it exciting and enjoyable. I cannot wait to see how next year's team turns out. I would love to have more members join to share this wonderful experience. 5 to 18 years of age are welcome to join and share an exciting time at the pool during next summer's Swim Season!

Applecross Country Club HOA – Tree Management Meeting



Please join us for an informal introduction to the Applecross Tree Inventory & Reserve Study completed late last year by Rockwell Associates.

The meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, July 19th, 2023 at 6:30 PM via Zoom.

The meeting will include an overview of the tree program, the need for management, and what to expect.

John Rockwell Hosbach of Rockwell Associates is the presenter.

John is the owner of Rockwell Associates, an urban forestry, natural resource, and landscape consultants. John is a registered consulting arborist and ISA certified arborist.

2023 Super Senior Club Championship

The Super Senior Club Championship will be on July 22nd & 23rd this year. The event is a 36-Hole Stroke Play Event held over 2 Days. The event will be open to all Tier 1 Members.
Men will be playing from the Blue Tees and Women will be playing from the Green/Purple Tees.

Both Days will be Tee Times starting at 10:00 AM. The 1st Round Tee Times will be based off of Handicap Index and the 2nd Round Tee Times will be based on 1st Round Results.

Group Swim Lessons

The next session of our group swimming lessons will start the week of June 5th with 30 minute swim class offerings held Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday from 5-630 pm. We will accept signups on a first come first serve basis until classes are full.

We are pleased to welcome Tim Friedrich as our new Head Golf Professional.

Tim most recently was the Head Golf Professional at Blue Bell Country Club.

Prior to Blue Bell Country Club, Tim has worked at various clubs including; Philadelphia Country Club, Ocean Reef Club in Florida & Kinloch Golf Club in Virginia.

We are thrilled to have Tim join the Applecross management and operations team.

Outdoor Pool Opening this Friday!

The outdoor pool will be opening a day earlier than usual on Friday, May 26th! Please take some time to review all the information below and attached on the pool season.

Outdoor Pool Hours of Operation
- Opening Day: Friday, May 26th
The pool will remain open throughout the season following Memorial Day Weekend to Labor Day Weekend. We will also be open the following two Saturday and Sundays following Labor Day.
- Final Day: Sunday, September 17th

Mondays
12-6 pm (No senior/lap swimming time)

Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Saturday, Sunday
Seniors & Lap Swimming only - 9:30 - 11 am
Open to all - 11 am - 8 pm

Fridays

* Memorial Day, July 3rd, & Labor Day the operation hours will mirror that of Tuesday, Wednesday Thursday, Saturday, Sunday

* The Indoor Pool will be guarded from 12-5 pm each day (adult swims will be called). Outside of these hours, the indoor pool is only accessible through the gym and a parent must be present on deck with their children.

* Snack bar & Pool Bar hours will be followed up by our Food & Beverage department

Changes to the above times
- There will be a handful of pool events that will affect normal operation hours. A notice will go out via email on any of these dates in advance.
- During days with inclement weather, an email will be sent anytime we are closed/opening during these instances.
- Please continue to follow our indoor pool schedule for any time frames that may be block off for swim lessons

Guest Fees & Check-in Process
Checking in is required for entering the outdoor pool area. Guest fees are due upon checking in. They can be charged to your account or by check. WE ARE NOW CASHLESS. CASH WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED.
Anyone not under your membership are considered guests.

Weekend & Holiday Rates
Adult (13+) - $15
Youth (Ages 6-12) - $10
Children (5 & under) - $5

Parking on Bolero
- There is no parking on the side closest to the pool on Bolero Drive. You may park on the other side.
- Cones will be staggered on Bolero during our busier days as a reminder.
- A notice will be placed on your car if parked on the wrong side, with repeat offenders brought to the HOA's attention.

Valet Parking
- We will once again be offering FREE valet parking every weekend & holidays from 12-5 pm.
- This service will only be provided once the parking lot is full. These services are not intended for use when there are parking spots available. Signs will be placed when services are available.
- Each Member will be provided a ticket with a number on it for reference to their set of keys/vehicle.
- 15 minutes prior to being ready for your car, please text our valet phone which will be indicated on your ticket. The attendant will pull your car to the valet area in front of the pool check-in/entrance.

Summer Swim Team & Clinic on Tuesday May 23rd - Outside

Our growing and improving Applecross Sharks will be competing in the Brandywine Swim League again this summer. Practices will begin the day after Memorial Day on Tuesday, May 30th. Please check out the full practice and meet schedule below. Meets are held Wednesday evenings and Saturday mornings.

**We will be holding out weekly swim team clinic OUTSIDE this upcoming Tuesday, May 23rd. Coaches will be brining out the blocks and it will be the perfect opportunity if you are considering registering your child for the team. The clinic will be from 6-7 pm for ages 10 & under and 7-8 for 11+. If you are not already registered for the clinic, please email me if you would like to join. Cost is $17 per swimmer.

Team Details

- Cost per swimmer: $250. $100 per additional child in your family.
- No prorating for missed practices and meets
- Price includes all practices and meets. Each swimmer will be expected to purchase their own swimsuit, goggles, and kickboard. Additional details will be provided following registration.
- A swimmer shall be no more than 18 years of age prior to June 1st
- Prerequisite: Swimmers should be comfortable swimming independently for extended periods. Swimmers will be divided by skill levels for practices, with younger swimmers practicing next to a wall. The goal will be to progress swimmers to swimming the length of the pool without assistance. This will allow swimmers to make better use of the pool throughout the summer, and allow parents to make better use of the outdoor bar.
