Respect. It’s not just a job for leadership, it’s something we ALL can do. No matter the dimension of diversity, we can all lead the FAIR way and treat each other with dignity and respect. Let’s make our Air Force the example.

Get out there and lead!

Chief, thank you for bringing this message and reminding us that we all bring value in our own unique way.

Today’s Lift ‘n Learn is all about respect. 2020 keeps throwing challenges our way, and while I’m constantly amazed at the way most of us are handling it, we are lacking in some others as a society. We do really great...but we can also do even better. The first step on that path is learning to respect one another. Our nation is great because of our differences and how they grow and shape us. Sometimes it’s too easy to feel defensive when faced with opinions or ideas that differ from ours. But we can sit and listen to one another, and maybe learn a little something, just by respecting each’s others beliefs. You don’t have to change yours, but it doesn’t cost anything to keep an open mind. You might just learn something new about yourself, too. Chief out!

In an effort to reduce unnecessary stress on Airmen and Space professionals during COVID-19 restrictions, several uniform changes scheduled to become mandatory for the Operational Camouflage Pattern and Two-Piece Flight Duty Uniform on June 1, 2020, have been delayed to Sept. 1, 2020.

The changes for each uniform are detailed in Air Force Instruction 36-2903, Dress and Appearance of Air Force Personnel. Mandatory wear of the Operational Camouflage Pattern Uniform remains April 2021

Did the 92 ARW Command Chief just reference Star Wars to give us a valuable leadership lesson!?...YUUUUP!
To become effective, put in the work in the swamp, you must. Strong with the FOURTH this point is!

“YOU’VE GOT TO SPEND TIME IN THE SWAMP TO LEARN TO LEAD

Luke Skywalker has the raw talent to be a Jedi, but he had to spend a lot of time in the swamp learning how to use the force. Leadership is a skill that we learn by taking classes, self-reflection, feedback from others, mentoring and of course… doing.”

On May 3, 2013, the 92nd Operations Group, and specifically the 93rd Air Refueling Squadron, lost three members of its family when Call Sign ‘Shell 77,’ a McConnell AFB assigned KC-135 operating out of Manas Air Base, Kyrgyzstan, crashed over the mountains shortly after takeoff. Capt. Mark Tyler Voss, Capt. Victoria A. "Tori" Pinckney, and TSgt Herman "Tre" Mackey III, all from the 93rd, lost their lives that day in the service of their country.

On 3 & 4 May 2020 we will honor our beloved Shell 77 crewmembers with virtual 5K and Memorial Ceremony. Please view the below document and direct any questions to MSgt Orlando Infante, (509) 247-8891, or TSgt Jonathan Rogers, (509) 247-2443.

Happy Saturday teammates! Stay connected and follow @92arwcommandchief on the gram!

I recently created an Instagram account in an attempt to reach more of our younger Airmen. Soon I will start posting lessons learned, perspectives and tips from multiple professional development opportunities and conversations with some of our very best leaders over the years!

18th Air Force Command Chief

No one is perfect! When you fail stay humble, acquire a positive attitude, own your failure, adjust, and learn.

Leaders, keep an eye out for that hidden potential in our Airmen, cultivate it, and don’t give up.

Get out there and lead!

For today’s “Lift ‘n Learn,” I want to talk about failure and how it makes us stronger. My path to Chief started out pretty rough, and you wouldn’t recognize the Airman I was compared to the Airman I am, today. Fortunately, my failures and the right leadership got me corrected and set me on the right path.

We should never be afraid of failure. Set your goals high, because even if you don’t reach them, you’ll still rise to a level beyond where you are now, and learn more than you will ever realize about your capabilities and resilience. To fail is to see an opportunity to reach even greater heights. So if you succeed, that’s awesome. Set the next goal even higher. But if you fail, evaluate why, learn from it, adjust, and come back even stronger. Chief out!

#WeekendReflection for #MondayAction : Being authentic is part of being an effective leader.

Being authentic is not an excuse to be lazy and it’s certainly not an excuse to act like a jack wagon. We all subscribed to our core values the day we signed up. However, if these bad habits creep in, be honest about it (with yourself and others), adjust, move on, and do better.
Being authentic is being vulnerable from time to time, letting everyone see that you aren’t a robot, you have struggles too. However, it doesn’t mean losing your head when things get tough, citing “I’m only human”. You have a responsibility to get it together and lead, show up, and bring genuine hope.
Being authentic is not ACTING like you have all the answers. However, it is being humble and honest when you don’t have the answers.
Being authentic is showing people, through your actions, what you stand for and why you do what you do.

Get out there and lead!

Persistent patience pays off! Roger that Chief!
Just do the right thing every chance you get and the results will follow.
The right thing isn’t always the easiest, quickest, or most popular, but IT IS ALWAYS the right thing.

Several years ago I had a major operation that sidelined me for awhile. Kinda like how we’re all doing our best to just...manage things right now. I had to rely on two pillars: patience and persistence. The work to rebuild my body took time, effort, drive, and just accepting that I wouldn’t be back to normal overnight.

We can, and will, do the same. While we wait (patience) for things to get back to normal, we should plan for the effort it’s going to take to recover and resolve to stick to our plans (persistence). We not only will get through this...we’re already well on our way. Keep it up, team, watch my video for a little more about my story, and please share yours below!

2nd Air Force Command Chief Master Sergeant

Good morning,

MSgt Staton, Fairchild ALS Commandant here!
I want to share a thought with you today on mentorship. If you had the opportunity to tune into CMSAF Wright's Podcast, Blueprint Leadership Episode #3 featuring CMSgt Ramon Colon-Lopez (CZ), our current SEAC, he talked about mentorship about 7:00 minutes in. CMSAF Wright asked him, "How can a person find a mentor?" Now this sounds like a simple, straight question but it was the answer that really struck me. CMSgt CZ responded by saying, mentors don't always have to be face to face. Find a mentor online that you like to listen to, that you learn from, and don't be afraid to reach out to them electronically. I didn't realize it until I heard this, that, the 2nd AF Command Chief, CMSgt JoAnn Bass was MY mentor. I have never met her in person but I do love her leadership lessons and social media post. I reached out to her via Facebook messenger a few months ago and within a few hours, she replied back to me (I was star struck lol).

The message here is, don't be afraid to reach out to the leaders you admire online. Message them, ask them questions, learn from them! Again, I have never met CMSgt Bass but I had coffee with her, virtually, this morning as she hosted "Coffee Time with CMSgt "Jo" Bass" . In this live video, she and guest CMSgt Dave Pizzuto- 81st TRW/CCC sat and enjoyed some coffee while discussing leadership. I learned so much!

Thank you CMSgt Bass for being my mentor!

04/18/2020

Today in 1942, in response to the attack on Pearl Harbor, 80 Airmen of the USAAF led by Lieutenant Colonel James H. Doolittle conducted a daring and innovative strike on the Japanese Mainland. In a feat many thought impossible, 16 B-25 bombers were launched from the aircraft carrier Hornet and successfully struck their targets. 15 aircraft crashed in China with the other landing at Vladivostok in the Soviet Union.
#USAF #FlyFightWin #KnowYourMil

We stand on the shoulders of giants. The effort, ingenuity and bravery that led to what is known as the Doolittle Raid was conceived, planned and executed by the same forces that define the United States Air Force today.

The 16 B-25s and 80 crew that flew the mission were among the earliest examples of sophisticated joint operations and multi-domain applications that today are the foundation of the strategy for protecting the United States and its interests. These pioneers of global strike cemented the notion that America’s Air Force can hold any target at risk anywhere, anytime.

A toast to the Doolittle Raiders who made the impossible, possible.
