In 2023, while running for Fairfax County School Board, I campaigned on getting back to basics—prioritizing student learning, especially reading. I called for changing how we teach reading in Fairfax County and investing more to help students excel. I pointed to the NAACP’s letter urging FCPS to focus on fundamentals, as too many kids are falling behind.
Meanwhile, opponents, backed by Democratic endorsements, focused on collective bargaining and blocking educational freedom. In Fairfax County, our current School Board members prioritize politics—like conflating gun control with allowing sexually explicit materials in schools and libraries—over students. Others were sworn in on such books instead of traditional texts. Elections have consequences—Virginia’s 2025 races for Governor, Lieutenant Governor, Attorney General, and House of Delegates are critical for education reform. Fairfax County’s next local elections are in 2027, but we MUST stay vigilant, informed, and engaged now!
