Why Protest Equality?: Unmasking the Deeper Motivation of the Occupy Movement | The Undercurrent
“Suddenly, the issues of equity, fairness, justice, income distribution, and accountability for the economic cataclysm . . . have returned to the heart of the political debate.” Elliot Spitzer is right: somehow the rag-tag band of “Occupy Wall Street” protesters has managed to change the national to...

This article, "Ayn Rand's Theory of Rights:
The Moral Foundation of a Free Society" by Craig Biddle in The Objective Standard is incredibly relevant to some of the issues discussed in our last meeting (Objectivism and Libertarianism). Check it out! If you don't have time to sit down to read it... listen to it for free in traffic or while you're walking around campus!
Examines the essential aspects of her philosophy that give rise to her theory of rights, as against the theories of God-given, government-granted, and “natural” rights.
Another shipment of The Objective Standard is in and we have more this time! We will be handing these out in exchange for donations! See you at the next meeting/event!
The Objective Standard is a journal written from an Objectivist perspective, Objectivism being Ayn Rands philosophy of reason, egoism, and laissez-faire capitalism.
"Thanksgiving is a typically American holiday. In spite of its religious form (giving thanks to God for a good harvest), its essential, secular meaning is a celebration of successful production. It is a producers’ holiday. The lavish meal is a symbol of the fact that abundant consumption is the result and reward of production. Abundance is (or was and ought to be) America’s pride—just as it is the pride of American parents that their children need never know starvation."

WEEKLY MEETING TOMORROW, 11/16 at 6:00 PM in SUB II!
Come meet campus Objectivists and fans of Ayn Rand, hear club news, and discuss this week's topic: OBJECTIVISM AND LIBERTARIANISM!
Great resource that I mentioned at last weeks meeting! Search "libertarianism". Notice that Rand's treatment of Libertarians is that they are advocating anarchy. I very rarely meet a Libertarian who is an anarchist, now. Is there still a claim again Libertarianism from the Objectivist viewpoint, considering the evolution of the party away from being predominantly associated with anarchism? If so, what is the problem with "Libertarianism"? If you don't see a conflict with Ayn Rand's ideas/Objectivism and "Libertarianism," what do you make of the claim that there is one?
This topic will also be taken up on Wednesday during our WEEKLY MEETING in the SUB II LOBBY at 6PM!
The Ayn Rand Lexicon: This mini-encyclopedia of Objectivism is compiled from Ayn Rand’s statements on some 400 topics in philosophy, economics, psychology and history.
Please join GMU Objectivists for our weekly club meeting in the lobby of SUB II (aka The HUB) at 6:00 PM TONIGHT!
We will be meeting our new members, discussing exciting plans and future events for the club, and of course - talking about current events from a pro-reason, Capitalist perspective.

A map of campus! I recommend parking at the Mason Pond Parking Deck, that is Building 39 on the map. The Science and Technology Building II is located at number 52 on the map. Room 7 is located on the Ground Floor of that building. If you study the map, you should be able to find your way there pretty easily!

Capitalism Magazine is an online magazine presenting articles in support of a social system based on individual rights.
Still no on campy location... Waiting on the paper pushers to push some paper. That being said; tomorrow's meeting 11/27 will be at Saxby's Coffee in University Mall at 6PM! See you then!
Is there one idea or concept in Atlas Shrugged that inspired or excited you the most upon encountering it?
What does it mean to judge? What do you see as the difference between these two statements and which do you agree with? “Judge not, that ye be not judged” and “Judge, and be prepared to be judged.”

"Rand’s Objectivism is devoid of a higher form of love -- in which individuals are willing to sacrifice for other members of society; an essential element for any functioning democracy. " Don't you just hate the internet sometimes?
So apparently Carla Gugino plays Ayn Rand in Sucker Punch. This showed up on Randex today "Carla Gugino is by far the worst, making Ayn Rand sound like Audrey Hepburn with her tooth gratingly bad accent"
Great first meeting everyone. Thank you to all those who came out.
First meeting is scheduled for 6:30 to 8:30 on Friday September 10th in the JC Meeting Room D. This is a general interest meeting and afterwards people are welcome to join us for drinks,(location is yet to be determined)
