InTec Founder Supports “The Wall That Heals”

On Veterans Day 1996, the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Fund (VVMF) unveiled a half-scale replica of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial in Washington, D.C., designed to travel to communities throughout the United States. Since its dedication, The Wall That Heals has been displayed at nearly 600 communities throughout the nation, spreading the Memorial’s healing legacy to millions.

Bringing the Wall home to communities throughout our country allows the souls enshrined on the Memorial to exist once more among family and friends in the peace and comfort of familiar surroundings. The traveling exhibit provides thousands of veterans who have been unable to cope with the prospect of facing The Wall to find the strength and courage to do so within their own communities, thus allowing the healing process to begin.

For 2020, The Wall That Heals tour is starting in Marco Island, Florida. As an Army Veteran and now resident of Marco Island, Bruce Donaldson, InTec’s Founder, is volunteering with the mobile team in setting up for the first leg of what will be a rewarding year-long tour for the Wall.

All Gave Some. Some Gave All.

InTec Gives Back- 2019

Each year InTec employees nominate charities that they personally support or are passionate about. The employees then vote, and the top 5 charities (6 for 2019) receive a financial contribution from InTec. The selected charities for 2019 to receive $10,000 include: St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital (https://www.stjude.org/); Wounded Warrior Project (https://www.woundedwarriorproject.org/); American Cancer Society (https://www.cancer.org); Alzheimer’s Association (https://www.alz.org); Special Olympics Area-23 (http://www.pwsova.org/pwso/); and Joni and Friends (http://www.joniandfriends.org/).

Also, every year InTec donates $250 for each new hire to Fisher House (https://fisherhouse.org/). This year $10,500 was donated to Fisher House.

Of note, most of these donations were doubled as part of “Giving Tuesday”.

Giving is a proud InTec tradition.

Over half of InTec professionals are military veterans. With a growing percentage of those continuing to serve in uniform as part of the vital reserve cadre of our Armed Forces, we have enhanced our Military Leave policy. InTec reservists are now eligible for differential pay between their InTec salary compensation and their military pay for up to 10 business days each calendar year.

We are proud to be part of the less than 30% of US corporations that offer a differentiated pay option to reservists.

From InTec President, Nate Copeland:

It was a long day. We all have stories.

~0830 I picked up my keys to head to the Pentagon for a 0930 meeting. Part way down the hall, I think, "I have way too much to do here. I'll get the notes from someone at the meeting". I go back in my office, threw the keys on my desk and log back in to my workstation.
(0846 AA 11 hits WTC North)

~ 0900 one of my guys runs in to my office saying, "You gotta see this!" We rushed to the TV's and watched CNN's coverage of Manhattan.
(0903 UA 175 hits WTC South. 0937 UA 77 hits the Pentagon)
Someone yelled, "OH MY GOD!" We rushed to the windows to see the dark plume of smoke on the skyline over the Pentagon.

I thanked God for intervention and for conflicting priorities that day.

I REMEMBER my anger.
I REMEMBER the confusion.
I REMEMBER the eerie quiet in the crystal blue skies.
I REMEMBER the gridlock and 4 hour commute home.
I REMEMBER not being able to call Sherri or Nikki (my sister) because of jammed cell towers.
I REMEMBER the smell in the building that following year.
I REMEMBER what life was like before that day.
I REMEMBER our resolve.

NEVER Forget

Thank you to all our InTecr's that had toys delivered to the corporate office or brought toy donations to our Christmas Party this past Friday! Toys were donated to It Takes a Village, Baby over the weekend and it looks like they had a great toy drive!

A note to InTec:

“All;
I want to take a moment to recognize and thank the veterans who have served our country and today continue serving as part of the InTec Team. Veterans truly believe in the values and founding principles of our country and have volunteered to do whatever it takes to maintain those values and our freedoms. Take a little time this weekend and especially on Veterans Day to find out a little more about a relative or friend who served or if you served, pass on your experience to your children, grandchildren, or a friend. America’s history is intricately interwoven with our military. Last weekend I was in Fort Leavenworth Kansas and walked through their excellent museum on westward expansion where I learned much of the early scientific discovery in America was accomplished by the Army. West Point was the center of early scientific education in America.

While they mean well, it has become automatic, almost rote for civilians to say “thank you for your service” whenever they meet a Veteran. It is like saying “How are you?” and not really caring for an answer. When you meet a veteran this weekend or from now on, take a few seconds to think of their sacrifices and be a little creative in thanking them for their service. Ask what Service they were in or where they served. You may get a great war story or history lesson and you will show real appreciation.

Thank you and enjoy your Veterans Day Holiday”

- Bruce Donaldson
