Daniel Nugent died 2/14/19 at the age of 24 of sporadic Fatal Insomnia, a subtype of Creutzfeldt-Jakob Disease (CJD). CJD is a fatal neurodegenerative disease that has no treatment or cure.
Strides for CJD is a nationwide annual walk to raise awareness of CJD and to provide family support, medical education and fund research programs. 20 cities are hosting Strides for CJD events.

We are co-sponsoring the 2nd annual Strides for CJD in Fairfax, VA in memory of Daniel and other families who have lost loved ones to CJD. If you are interested, use the link below to Register for the walk or donate to Daniel Nugent's Team. Registration by 9/1/ 2021 includes a t-shirt.

In Daniel’s memory, we are starting a local Strides for CJD walk to raise funds and help find a cure. Daniel had just turned 18 years in the fall of 2012 when he first mentioned blurry vision. Six months later, he could barely walk. Daniel was scared and couldn’t sleep. He struggled to reach for a glass of water and his hands trembled as he raised the glass. His voice was shaky. His laughter sounded oddly high pitched. He choked on food. His body was failing him and doctors didn’t know why. Over the course of 6 years, a little bit of Daniel slowly slipped away. Daniel died on Valentine’s Day 2019 at the age of 24.
