🚨 We Need Your Help to Close a Critical Gap in Healthcare for People Leaving Prison in Connecticut.
Every year, individuals are released from incarceration and return to their communities ready to rebuild their lives.
But many face a serious challenge immediately upon release:
They lose access to healthcare and medication.
For individuals living with mental health conditions or chronic illness, even a short gap in care can have devastating consequences.
Connecticut has made important progress by allowing individuals to apply for Medicaid prior to release. However, enrollment is not automatic, and coverage currently only extends for 90 days.
We are advocating for a simple but powerful solution:
✔ Automatic Medicaid enrollment before release
✔ Extended coverage to six months after release
Ensuring continuous access to healthcare helps people stay healthy, stabilize their lives, and successfully reintegrate into their communities.
When people succeed after reentry, our communities become safer and stronger.
