If you happen to see our medical rescues, you'll notice a small blue ribbon on the back window. This ribbon symbolizes the fight against colon cancer that one of our brothers of Local 1202 is currently battling. We stand tall with our brother, no one fights alone. #PrattStrong.

Fall River Buddhist temple hosts COVID vaccine clinic, part of Baker's 'targeted outreach'

Professional Paramedics of Fall River Local 1202 have been hard at work over the last several months vaccinating our citizens of Fall River. Under the Direction of LT Nick Silva and Captain Jen Roderiques, Paramedics have been set up at BCC vaccinating our residents as well as residents from the Southcoast area. Our Paramedics, in conjunction with Fall River Housing, were able to vaccinate those living in the multiple high rises and housing throughout the city. Most recently our Paramedics have been teaming up going house to house to help vaccinate those that are homebound and unable to make it to the many clinics throughout the city.

The Khmer Buddhist Temple house in Fall River was the site over the weekend of a COVID-19 vaccine clinic.

Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19)

In light of recent events, the Fall River Paramedics would like to try and keep the public updated with any possible information on COVID-19 with all information being taken directly from the Center for Disease Control. We would like to assure everyone that the CDC, the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, all local hospitals, and the Fall River Paramedics are well prepared and extremely capable of handling any potential/suspected exposures/cases of COVID-19.

WHAT IS COVID-19?
-COVID-19 is a viral respiratory infection that has never previously been seen, being traced back to Wuhan, China. -While coronavirus has been passed along from human to human for years, this strain (COVID-19) has never been previously identified in humans.

CURRENT STATISTICS AS OF 03/12/20:
-1,215 cases in the United States.
-36 deaths in the United States.
-42 States including the District of Columbia have reported confirmed or suspected cases of the virus. This does include the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.

SYMPTOMS:
-Fever
-Cough
-Difficulty Breathing

SHOULD I BE TESTED?
-If you develop symptoms such as fever, cough, and/or difficulty breathing, and have been in close contact with a person known to have COVID-19 or have recently traveled from an area with ongoing spread of COVID-19, stay home and call your healthcare provider.
-If your healthcare provider informs you to be seen at a hospital, please call 911 and inform the call taker of the potential risk for COVID-19. This will allow our Paramedics to respond appropriately, while also protecting themselves, minimizing their exposure and allowing any local hospital to appropriately prepare for an inbound suspected COVID-19 patient.

PREVENTION:
-Wash your hands thoroughly/often.
-Avoid touching your eyes, nose and mouth.
-Avoid close contact with those who are sick.
-Elderly, or those with additional health risk/compromised immune systems should be taking these precautions extremely seriously.

PROTECTING OTHERS:
-Clean and disinfect commonly touched/used surfaces, frequently.
-Wear a mask ONLY IF you are sick. Those who are healthy DO NOT NEED A MASK. This is extremely important, allowing those who require a mask, to have access to them.
-Cover all coughs and sneezes.
-If you are sick, STAY HOME.

Any and all information can be found at https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-nCoV/index.html

Stay safe, wash your hands.

Respectfully,
Fall River Paramedics

Thank you...those two words can't even express the gratitude I feel. Since the very day I was diagnosed with breast cancer I have been overwhelmed by the love and support that has come my way. I want you to know how appreciated you are. You CHOOSE to help others in your free time. This makes you a hero in my book. I am humbled by your generosity. The money you raised will go a long way for things I will need after surgery. There are so many things that insurance doesn't cover. Next year, please let me know how I can help. I would love to pay this wonderful gift forward. Again, thank you so very much! Please now that this Thanksgiving I am so very thankful for you. Sharie Miles, Nick Silva, Beth Fergason..thank you..you are amazing! Thank you to Kyle Carpenter, Manny DeAraujo, Josh Suntherland, Chief Bacon, Lt. Fitzy, Chief Poissant, Jay Burns and to everyone that came out to support my family. ❤ Much love, Jennifer Steakelum
