On Friday August 7th, 2020, the Extended Benefits (EB) program was implemented in UI Online. Eligible claimants may collect up to 13 additional weeks of benefit payments, depending on federal funding. The EB Program is triggered into effect when certain economic conditions related to high unemployment exist in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. This occurred the week of May 9, 2020. The EB Program may trigger off depending on federal funding or a change in economic conditions. Claimants who have exhausted their Regular UI in the EB period, on or after 5/9/2020, are potentially eligible for EB. Claimants are required to receive PEUC benefits before EB benefits. This means that the first potentially eligible claimants for EB would have started PEUC the week ending 5/16/2020 and received all 13 weeks as of the week ending 8/8/2020, so could file for EB next week.
