Kennedy Park will see some major renovations and new facilities, thanks to a hefty state grant that was announced this week. "The PARC grant gave us a great opportunity to provide a recreational hub to residents in the South End,” said Mayor Paul Coogan. Last week, Gov. Charlie Baker announced upward of $10 million in grant money meant to improve local parks and conservation lands across the state. This includes $400,000 for Fall River, MA for changes to Kennedy Park. The money will go toward renovating four tennis courts at the park and installing pickleball courts, the first in the city. It is with a very heavy heart that we announce the passing of Fall Rivers own Sailer Clause (Al Deorsey). He passed away Sunday, July 11, 2021, some knew him as a father, stepfather, uncle, brother, Pepe, and Big Al. He had the biggest heart of anyone I have known always there to help anyone no matter what it might be. Through his illness he still coordinated the collection and distribution of over $80,000 worth of toys during his toy drive this past winter. Al will receive a full Military Honors funeral at the Borne Veterans Cemetery, however, not all expenses are covered. We are trying to help to raise money for his final expenses. Once those are covered the remaining funds raised will be donated to the VA Toy drive in honor of his memory. His family sincerely thanks you for any help that can be given. https://au.gofundme.com/f/funeral-expenses-al-deorsey
