Amy
Hello everyone! I have an organization looking for some volunteers. The information is included in this post along with the website for additional info and the contact person. For those of you looking for a service learning opportunity or a volunteer opportunity for a chance at the Presidential Volunteer Service Award, this may be for you.
Welcome
Join us for the first annual Southern New England Livestock Conference on November 5th at the Bristol County Agricultural High School in Dighton, MA. The goal of this conference is to provide a platform to share information on best practices for humanely raising livestock, humane handling and processing, and marketing of meat products. Our program will cover topics including animal nutrition, soil management for pastures, grazing and pasture management, exploring the rules and regulations for livestock farmers, health care and humane treatment of farm animals, adding value to your meat products, and much more. There will be more than 20 different seminars including talks for all levels from those interested in getting animals for the first time to established livestock farmers.
You will also have the opportunity to peruse our livestock farmer expo, with businesses and organizations that service, promote, educate, and are relevant to raising livestock. You will be able to find resources, tools, and information important to your livestock operation. Also, we will have some great local food on site for lunch.
We are excited to announce that this year's keynote speaker will be Amado Baeza, the Chief Operating Officer for The Livestock Institute of Southern New England's new slaughterhouse and processing facility. Amado has extensive and diversified experience in the meat processing industry, managing both large and small facilities. With over 25 years working in processing facilities, Amado will reflect on how the industry has changed, where it is headed and how small-scale facilities fit into the evolving food landscape.
