HFPA-alumni spotlight taken from the The Army and Navy Club's June 2020 issue of the "Dispatch". Rick Bond and I caught up with on old HFPA colleague in February when he spoke at the luncheon at the ANC -- Dr. Ed Jackson (COL, US Army Retired). I met Ed in 1992 at FT Sam. After retiring from the Army in 1996, Ed had a front row seat to making history as the Executive Architect for the Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial Project on the National Mall. In 2005, he graciously hosted an OPD for the HFPA HFPO-Northeast Region at the the MLK Memorial Headquarters then located in the National Building Museum. Glenn Marsh and Dave Stoehr among others attended that day.

The mission has been passed to very capable hands at the change of command ceremony this morning. Below I share my final message to the team from early this morning. Best wishes to COL Chris Drum as he leads HFPA into the future. Team HFPA- After 6+ years, this is my last communication to you as Commander, HFPA. Later this morning I will pass the baton to COL Chris Drum's capable hands. Very many emotions and thoughts racing in my head as I wrap up an incredible run of great experiences, learning, and memories gathered over the past 25 years since I first joined the HFPA Family as a young Lieutenant, and was taken under the wings of so many great (then future) HFPA leaders. K A P O W ! This has been my trademark exclamation to recognize outstanding performance and deeds, and you all have provided many opportunities to shout it out loud, or quietly write it in one of the more than 1,500 personal notes/cards I have handwritten.. a labor of love actually... these past 6 years. Keep up the same good work you all have shown me for so many years. Our work, now your work, is important and NOBODY can do it better. Keep doing well what you do well. To all of you one last K A P O W ! THANK YOU! I am humbled and blessed to have been part of the HFPA Team for so many years. Leading it at my last stop is an honor and blessing I shall never forget. FAREWELL.. For now! Our paths will continue to cross, for our professional world is small. More importantly the HFPA Family bonds are strong and enduring. I look forward to hearing about your future successes and great things you all do for our Army. God Bless you all my friends!, Sincerely, -Mike COL Michael D.
