Urgent Call to Action: Ensure the Diversity of Jewish Life is Reflected at the World Zionist Congress

As many of you know, I am currently serving as a delegate in the World Zionist Congress. The Congress will be concluding tomorrow and we are in the final hours of a push to make sure representation in the Jewish national institutions reflects the diversity of the Jewish people as well as the values of inclusivity, tolerance, equality and equity. Please sign this petition to the Prime Minister and share it with your family, friends, and networks TODAY. Many thanks for your support. Rabbi Amy Schwartzman

The Union for Reform Judaism reminds us:

“A ruler is not be appointed unless the community is first consulted.” - Rabbi Yitzchak Ben Yehuda ibn Gayyat

As Reform Jews, we work for a world where all people experience wholeness, justice, and compassion. One of the easiest ways to make our voices heard is at the ballot box.

1. VOTE!
In VA, register to vote by October 13 (next week!). Request an absentee ballot by October 23. Look for satellite drop-off and early voting locations here: https://www.elections.virginia.gov/casting-a-ballot/early-voting-office-locations/

2. GET OUT THE VOTE
Help get out the vote in underrepresented and minority communities across the country from the comfort of your computer screen. Volunteer to phone and text with our terrific TRS civic engagement team here: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1wMGdsRXMFpMCtRkxwD-WtqlZkFEsjqTida6y92nwI0U/edit?ts=5b06f315

General information

We are a thriving Reform Jewish congregation nestled in the suburbs of Washington, DC. Since our founding in 1962, we have grown to the largest Jewish congregation in Virginia, serving over 1500 households from McLean, Arlington, Falls Church, Vienna and other nearby Northern Virginia areas. Together we strive to build a sacred community, Kehilla Kedosha, unified by common goals and ideals, where all members are embraced, Jewish traditions are honored and our spiritual link to Israel is fostered. TRS is a diverse community that offers a broad range of spiritual, educational, and social programs that engage members of every age and background. We have something for everyone! Learn & Grow During the week, our Nursery School provides a joyful and nurturing learning environment for over 200 children. If you stop by evenings and weekends, you'll see over 900 students bustling about the halls of our Religious School. As is a Jewish tradition, learning is a lifelong affair and this tradition continues here at TRS with energetic adult educational programs. Pray Our worship style — accessible and inclusive — enriches the heart, mind, and spirit of all who attend. The music at our services is participatory and engaging. A number of opportunities exist to meet the many needs of our congregants. Engage Our calendar is bursting at the seams with exciting speakers and activities. An assortment of affinity and support groups enable the members of our large congregation the opportunity to connect in smaller settings. Jewish entertainers from all over the world (and local too!) fill our cultural events program each year. Visit Our vibrant community is a celebration and exploration of Reform Jewish life, rooted in tradition and relevant for all time. We hope you will consider joining us at one of the many worship services and activities that are offered. Please allow us the opportunity to extend a warm welcome to you when you visit!

TRS Community: We have just received a very important message from our clergy and lay leadership about how we must respond to the tsunami of anti-Semitism that has been unleashed on our community during the last three years: with vigilance, with justice, and with Judaism. Please consider especially these powerful words: "Do not allow antisemitism to be, as Deborah Lipstadt, author of Antisemitism: Here & Now, notes, 'the fulcrum upon which our identity pivots.'” כן יהי רצון
