Today is Ash Wednesday. Remember you are dust and to dust you shall return.

A prayer for Ash Wednesday 2022

God of the dust we were before,
God of the dust we will become,
God of the breath
that has brought this dust to life:
each day contains a miracle
bounded by our mortality.
In this season, we mark ourselves
as creatures dependent on you,
drawn up from a shared earth,
and separated from each other
only by a desire to be more than we are.
May we, who will return to the earth,
use these days to draw closer to you
and to all those who share
this earth, this breath,
this animating love
that can bring even ash to life.
Amen.

A Psalm 27 prayer for the people of Ukraine

“Whom shall I fear?” Creator God, this question of Psalm 27 is not rhetorical for the Ukrainians who are threatened by the buildup of Russian troops and saber-rattling on their borders. Lord, be their light and their salvation. Protect the Ukrainians whom we watch on the nightly news — the eld...

Call to Prayer for a peaceful solution between Ukraine and Russia

As people of Christian faith, the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) has been in partnership with churches in both Ukraine and Russia over the last 30 years and with churches in the former Soviet Union for many years before that.

The star in the sky showed the magi the way to the baby Jesus.
The star was a guide.
The star was a light.
The star was a promise.
As we follow in the ways Jesus has taught us,
God be our guide.
God be our light.
God be our promise.
Amen

How to Help Afghans - CWS

Here's some information about the work of Church World Service, helping to resettle Afghan refugees. Knox Church has long supported this wonderful organization by making health kits school kits, and participating in CROP Walks to raise funds for food programs.

CWS has worked with resettled Afghans for decades and our nationwide network is preparing to support new arrivals. Will you join us?
