On Palm Sunday, Knox Church usually collects funds for One Great Hour of Sharing. Here's a video from the Presbyterian Church Hunger Program about OGHS, explaining how you could still give to this outstanding program.

"Sometimes it seems like the people we support with One Great Hour of Sharing gifts are so far away, and their stories are so different from our own. But sometimes it's obvious how connected we are." -Jenny Oldham, Presbyterian Hunger Program

What do shoes have to do with faith? As people of the Way we are always on a journey — a journey to follow Jesus, a journey to go where God sends us, always seeking to be the hands of feet of Christ wherever we go.

Choir members (or anyone else for that matter): Rev. Mike Evans from Hopewell will be preaching his sermon from the Hopewell Church FB page at 11:30 this morning.

Dear Knox Church friends and family; I continue to pray, along with you, that everyone remains safe during this pandemic.
I invite you to join me tomorrow, Sunday, March 22 at 10:15 am, for a brief, informal time of worship and prayer on Facebook Live, right here, on the Knox Church page.
This approximately 15 minute time together will focus on Psalm 23 and a time of prayer, with and for each other. I hope you’re able to join in. In Christ, Pastor Bill Hale

Pandemic
What if you thought of it
as the Jews consider the Sabbath—
the most sacred of times?
Cease from travel.
Cease from buying and selling.
Give up, just for now,
on trying to make the world
different than it is.
Sing. Pray. Touch only those
to whom you commit your life.
Center down.

And when your body has become still,
reach out with your heart.
Know that we are connected
in ways that are terrifying and beautiful.
(You could hardly deny it now.)
Know that our lives
are in one another’s hands.
(Surely, that has come clear.)
Do not reach out your hands.
Reach out your heart.
Reach out your words.
Reach out all the tendrils
of compassion that move, invisibly,
where we cannot touch.

Promise this world your love–
for better or for worse,
in sickness and in health,
so long as we all shall live.

40acts

We believe that at a time like this generosity is as important as ever.
In light of the growing COVID-19 pandemic, we will be continuing to release our challenges as planned, making modifications where necessary to protect those in our community who are vulnerable.
We advise all of our challengers to be wise as they continue completing the daily challenges and interacting with friends and neighbours, particularly those who are elderly or with underlying health conditions.
We are convinced there is a way to respond to the COVID-19 pandemic that demonstrates the power of generosity and the confident hope we have in God.

By choosing to be a community who act generously in an atmosphere of self-preservation, we can help to disarm some of the fear that many are experiencing as shelves continue to empty and people begin to self-isolate.

Continue to share what you have with those around you, looking out for their needs as well as your own (Phil 2:4). Reach out (digitally, spiritually and where appropriate, physically) to those who may be alone at this time (Matt 25:36).

Above all, have faith.

03/13/2020

Dear friends,

Knox Church will not meet for worship this Sunday. The luncheon celebrating Bill Hale’s 30 years will be postponed. The men’s breakfast will not meet on Saturday. The Monday night Session meeting is also postponed.

As a measure to slow the spread of the COVID-19 virus, the Leadership Council of National Capital Presbytery strongly recommends that churches not hold worship services for the next 2 Sundays. They have also recommended that Sessions not meet in person.

This notice is being sent by e-mail and will be posted on Facebook. If you know anyone who might not be reached by the message, please give them a call.

Please watch for additional emails and updates as they become available. Please continue to use common sense precautions to help slow the spread of this virus.
In Christ, Bill Hale
