Spring cleaning? Donโ€™t forget your septic system.

You donโ€™t want to be that neighbor ๐Ÿ˜ฌ

A full septic system can lead to messy (and costly) problemsโ€”and impact local water quality. The good news? Regular maintenance can keep everything flowing the way it should.

๐ŸŒฟ Learn About Native Landscaping at Upcoming Events! ๐ŸŒฟ

Looking to create a yard that supports pollinators, protects water quality, and looks beautiful all season long? Residents of the Cannon River Watershed are invited to explore the benefits of native landscaping through several upcoming workshops and events this spring.

Native plants have deep root systems that help filter runoff, stabilize soil, and absorb excess rainwater before it reaches lakes and rivers. They also provide critical habitat for butterflies, bees, and other wildlife. Even small changes to your yard or shoreline can make a big difference for local water quality.

๐Ÿ“… Upcoming learning opportunities include:
โ€ข Shrink Your Lawn โ€“ March 12, 7โ€“8 PM, Emmaus Baptist Church (Northfield)
โ€ข Planting for Pollinators (Online Webinar) โ€“ March 20, 7โ€“8 PM
โ€ข Landscaping for Clean Water Intro Class (Online) โ€“ March 24, 6โ€“7:30 PM
โ€ข Rain Gardens: Plan, Prep, Plant, Maintain (Virtual Workshop) โ€“ March 26, 6โ€“7 PM
โ€ข Le Sueur County Horticulture Day โ€“ April 11, 8:30 AMโ€“3 PM, Le Center
โ€ข Landscaping for Clean Water Intro Class (Online) โ€“ April 22, 6โ€“7:30 PM

The Cannon River Watershed Joint Powers Organization also offers FREE one-on-one assistance for watershed residents interested in native shoreland plantings. Get help with site evaluations, plant selection, shoreline restoration planning, and funding opportunities.

๐Ÿ’ง Up to $500 in cost-share funding is available for eligible native shoreland plantings in the Cannon River Watershed.
