Suspect in FPD Officer Shooting Arrested in Phoenix

Just after midnight on January 14, a tip came into the Phoenix Police Department that Elias Buck and Victoria “Rossi” Hernandez were at a Quiktrip Convenience Store located at 8004 N. 27th Avenue in Phoenix, Arizona. Officers responded and located Buck, who attempted to flee, but was quickly detained. No officers were injured during his apprehension. Hernandez was released pending the ongoing investigation.

HEADS UP!
Road 5500 in Lee Acres will be CLOSED to traffic on Tuesday, January 11, 2022, from 7:00 am to 7:00 pm. This is one of the last long closures in this construction project!
Crews will be receiving and placing the final girders to hold up the other half of the bridge.
People who use the bridge regularly will need to find an alternate route, no traffic will be allowed to cross.

We are planning for a 12-hour closure, but are HOPING to be sone sooner. We will update the closure if it opens early.

FPD Officer Shot after Traffic Stop, Suspect & Person Of Interest Sought:

The officer involved in the shooting was Joseph Barreto. Officer Barreto is 25 years old and has been with the Farmington Police Department since 2018. The officer was immediately transported to San Juan Regional Medical Center, where he is currently in stable condition.
This incident remains under investigation, and further information will be provided as it becomes available.
