Re-elected in 2019 Current Service:
I am currently serving on the Farr West City Council

My Current Assignments:
Grants
Technology
Trails
Park Committee
Planning Commission Liaison

We work tirelessly on going through all the city municipal codes updating what's outdated, removing what's unneeded, and clarifying what's confusing.

The update of the General Plan was enhanced by seeking more input from the citizens of Farr West, we had a booth at the Freedom Festival, held an Open House, and a Public Hearing. Public input is important to a solid General Plan. I am a member of the Smith Family Park Committee which is made up of city officials, staff, and most importantly citizens. Our design plans were helpful in presentations

This is how a Meet the Candidates event should be. Casual, frank conversations about what we all care about.
I hope I was able to clarify where I stand. I feel good about it, and more than one participant left with door hangers for their friends and neighbors, so… 😃
THANK YOU to Katie, Boyd, Lee and our great residents for taking the time to have these conversations. And of course all those that helped organize and facilitate.
There will be more opportunities to hear from us and I hope more opportunities for your questions!

I WANT TO HEAR FROM YOU.This is the first of hopefully many opportunities to ask and answer questions.

Preservation of Open Spaces

Parks & connecting trails should be a higher priority in the development plans of Farr West City. Many of us moved out here to get away from the congestion of other cities, I believe that it is possible to balance smart growth with the preservation of open spaces. We can encourage developers to design and incorporate open space into their proposals as opposed to squeezing as many 1/3 acre square lots into a development as possible.
I have proposed (and will again) adding an Open Space Zone to the municipal code. Other cities have such a zone not only to help plan and preserve precious open space but to help land owners through lower tax rates for such zones.

Land Owner Rights

Anyone owning land in Farr West should be able to reasonably utilize their property as they choose as long as they abide by the law and do no harm to their neighbors.

The city's municipal code should be simple and follow common sense rules.

What have I accomplished in 6 years as City Council?
As with all true successes it takes a team effort, no one does it all by
themself. These accomplishments were achieved through committees, teamwork,& collaboration. Much of which was by volunteers.

So, I’ve been working on repurposing my city council signs, on some signs 🪧 I’ve been sticking a mayor sticker over council, found it doesn’t cover the whole word so I’ve been turning the ‘L’ into an exclamation point !
The whole process could have been avoided with new signs. But unnecessary expense drove me to this solution.
Fiscal responsibility is vital to running a city effectively. I’m so fiscally responsible, I still drive my 1992 Ford Ranger because it still works for my needs and costs next to nothing.
I will always ask the questions,
“is it necessary?”
“Can we afford it?”
“Do we have alternate sources?”
And again “is it necessary?”
I won’t spend your tax dollars on stuff we don’t need or want.

Did you know that Farr West didn’t have a primary election like many of our neighboring cities?
We needed one more candidate for mayor and/or two more candidates for city council. As it is there are barely enough candidates to even hold an election in Nov.
I’m looking forward to the days and weeks after Labor Day when we’ll get into the thick of it. I’m ready to listen to your comments and concerns and to answer any questions you may have of me.#farrwestcity

Before my appointment to the Planning Commission in 2008, I was simply a resident interested in how things work in the city. I attended (and still do) most every public meeting held.

Good job 👍 #bleedpurple

Our Story

Current Service: I am currently serving on your Farr West City Council. I previously served on the Planning Commission, we worked tirelessly on going through all the city municipal codes updating what's outdated, removing what's unneeded, and clarifying what's confusing. Our design plans were helpful in presentations that resulted in over $400,000.00 in RAMP and other Grant funds for the park with hopefully more to come. I am also serving as the city's web & social media administrator, I created and administer farrwestcity.org where citizens have access to news, applications and checklists, the General Plan, and the Municipal Code. I also created and administer Facebook & twitter accounts for the city to better communicate with it's citizens young and old. I do this voluntarily and with little compensation. Previous Service: I served for over 3 years on the Farr West Planning Commission as it's Vice Chairman and actively participated in the creation and adoption of the new General Plan for Farr West City. Prior to moving to Farr West in 2004, I was the president of the Valley Terrace Home Owners Association in Ogden for 10 years. I managed the budget, coordinated projects, collaborated with vendors and contractors. It was like running a small town but on a much smaller scale. Why am I running again? I'm running FOR Farr West City Council. I will always participate in the process as I've shown over the past several years, I'd just like to be in a position where I can help get things done. Ultimately it's the council with leadership of the mayor that make the final decisions on most all proposals brought to the city. Since the adoption of the 2009 General Plan there are 4 follow on plans plus one more added to the 2015 General Plan that were recommended that have not been fully implemented yet. - Economic Development Plan - Transportation Master Plan - Capital Improvement (Common Facilities) Plan - Parks and Recreation Master Plan - Broadband Strategic Plan (new) All plans take time so getting started is important! I have convinced the Planning Chair and he has now assigned each of these to a commission member. This will allow the city to be more proactive than reactive. As a council member I will ensure these stay a priority. If you choose to support me, it will be greatly appreciated!!
