Firestone residents — what is happening with our Town Board and our water is unacceptable.
After wasting an enormous amount of your money on a lawsuit they were clearly losing, the Board finally dropped its case against Central Weld County Water District. But instead of learning from that failure, they doubled down — filing a new lawsuit to try to block the cancellation of the water treatment agreement.
Think about that: rather than negotiating in good faith to secure reliable drinking water for our community, the Board chose more litigation, more conflict, and more legal bills — all paid by Firestone taxpayers.
As if that weren’t enough, the Town is now trying to seize land from the St. Vrain Sanitation District, which provides our sewer and wastewater treatment. This reckless move is unlikely to succeed, does nothing to fix our drinking water problem, and guarantees even more wasteful spending on lawyers.
No matter who “wins,” residents lose. We are effectively paying legal fees on both sides while our water future remains uncertain.
This is not leadership — it is mismanagement.
Firestone deserves a Board that works with our regional partners, protects our water supply, and puts residents first instead of fighting everyone around us.
That’s why recalling the current Board isn’t just justified — it’s necessary. We need new leadership that will stop the lawsuits, start collaborating, and finally solve our water problems.
It’s time for change in Firestone.
