The City of Fisk will hold a public hearing on April 2, 2019, 5:30 p.m. at City Hall to discuss the city’s submission of an application for the Fiscal Year 2019 Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) program. The city is interested in obtaining all citizens’ input on community development needs within the city. As part of the hearing process citizens will be asked to verbally assist in the completion of a Needs Assessment document. The document will detail what the residents feel are the strengths and weaknesses of the community. The city needs as much local participation as possible to reflect the true desires of the community as a whole, as well as the comments relating to the proposed project application. The State has established a maximum request for each category. Activities that are eligible for funding include the improvement of public works, public facilities, housing rehabilitation, and others allowed by law. At least 51% of the funds must be used to benefit low-and-moderate income persons. No displacement of persons is proposed.

The city is proposing to repair the existing road bed, address settlement issues, overlay and pave all or sections of various streets within the City of Fisk. All city residents will benefit from the project, which is estimated to cost approximately $300,000. The city will provide approximately $40,000 of in-kind work and cash as local match. The city proposes to apply for approximately $260,000 in CDBG Funding. At least 51% of the funds will be used to benefit low-and-moderate income persons. All citizens are encouraged to attend and comment on the proposed activities.

For more information on the proposed project, contact Mayor John Murray at 573-967-3810.

Attention Fisk residents,

If anyone is interested in volunteering to help pull off our annual Fall Festival please contact Susan Williams. She is in need of help to set up, organize, clean up, some people to help block traffic at time of the parade, and someone help keep an eye on the bathrooms so they don't stop up. Along with other things that I am not for sure of. This is all pulled off by volunteers. All the volunteers that used to help have all grown older so they can no longer help. So please if anyone is interested in volunteering please contact Susan Williams. She is the last of the volunteers and if she can not find any new volunteers she is saying regrettably this will most likely be the last Fisk Fall Festival for she can not do it all by herself.

What are your thoughts?

Due to the lack of quality ISP options in our area, we are researching the viability of starting an ISP for Fisk and the surrounding area. Over the past couple of months, we have gathered all the necessary information for location, equipment, software, bandwidth, and associated costs, among other things. But, for this endeavor to be successful, we need to know if the community is interested in and would support this project. This market research will be valuable in helping us determine if we can continue with this project. If you are interested please take the brief survey located on our site.
