🦁 𝗙𝗹𝗮𝘁𝗼𝗻𝗶𝗮 𝗟𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀 𝗖𝗹𝘂𝗯 – 𝗠𝗮𝘆 𝟮𝟲 𝗠𝗲𝗲𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗥𝗲𝗰𝗮𝗽

On Tuesday, May 26, the Flatonia Lions Club welcomed 𝗞𝗲𝗻𝗻𝘆 𝗖𝗼𝘂𝗰𝗵, Executive Director of 𝗙𝗮𝘆𝗲𝘁𝘁𝗲 𝗖𝗼𝘂𝗻𝘁𝘆 𝗛𝗮𝗯𝗶𝘁𝗮𝘁 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗛𝘂𝗺𝗮𝗻𝗶𝘁𝘆, along with volunteer 𝗗𝗼𝘂𝗴 𝗘𝗹𝗹𝗶𝗼𝘁𝘁.

Kenny shared the inspiring story of our local Habitat’s work since its founding in 2004 — building homes from the ground up and offering a 𝗛𝗼𝗺𝗲 𝗥𝗲𝗽𝗮𝗶𝗿 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗴𝗿𝗮𝗺 that helps homeowners maintain safe, functional, and stable housing.

He also highlighted the 𝗥𝗲𝗦𝘁𝗼𝗿𝗲 𝗶𝗻 𝗦𝗰𝗵𝘂𝗹𝗲𝗻𝗯𝘂𝗿𝗴, where donations of furniture, building supplies, and equipment are accepted. The store is open for 𝘀𝗵𝗼𝗽𝗽𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗱𝗼𝗻𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀 𝗼𝗻 𝗙𝗿𝗶𝗱𝗮𝘆𝘀 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗦𝗮𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗱𝗮𝘆𝘀..

Fayette County Habitat for Humanity builds more than houses — they build lasting relationships. Through 𝗵𝗼𝗺𝗲𝗼𝘄𝗻𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗽 𝗲𝗱𝘂𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻, 𝗳𝗶𝗻𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗶𝗮𝗹 𝗹𝗶𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗮𝗰𝘆 𝘁𝗿𝗮𝗶𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗼𝗻𝗴𝗼𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘀𝘂𝗽𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁, they set families up for success.

There are many ways to get involved! Whether you enjoy swinging hammers, organizing projects, working with people, or helping with paperwork, there’s a volunteer opportunity for everyone.

The Flatonia Lions Club was so happy to have the opportunity to donate and pass out 70 fans to the Flatonia Area Food Pantry on May 14th!

We truly love being able to give back to our community in any way we can. Each year, we host a fan drive in the summer and a heater/blanket drive in the winter to help support local families in need.

We also encourage our community to get involved and donate when able—every contribution helps us provide more resources to those who need it most.

It's a great day to be a Lion 🦁 Today Lions club members & directors presented a $1,000 check to the Flatonia Secondary campus. During our annual Pie Contest/Auction, we host a competion between the FISD Elementary campus and the FISD Secondary campus. The grand champion winner was Addison Berckenhoff a 9th grader at the secondary campus. CONGRATULATIONS!!! 💛

The Lions Club had the absolute honor and pleasure of donating a bike to every 1st and 2nd grade student at Flatonia Elementary for the 2025–2026 school year! 🚲💛

Seeing the kids’ faces light up brought us so much joy, and we are incredibly thankful to be a small part of making these memories for them. We hope each child gets lots of fun and use out of their new bikes!

We had a wonderful meeting at the Flatonia Lions Club on today, April 28th! 🦁

We were honored to hear from Marci Reat, Preplanning Specialist with Smith Funeral Home, who was invited by Lion Jan. Marci shared valuable information about the benefits and advantages of preplanning, and we encourage anyone with questions to reach out to Smith Funeral Home.

We also had the privilege of installing a new member, Melanie Stone, into the Flatonia Lions Club. Sponsored by Hannah Mica, we are so excited to welcome Melanie and look forward to all she will bring to our club! 💙💛

April has already been off to a busy start for the Flatonia Lions Club! 🦁

We were honored to receive a $7,500 grant from Second Chance Emporium, which will go directly toward our annual heater and blanket drive for the food pantry -something we’re proud to support each year.

We also had the opportunity to give back by donating $500 to the Gardenia Janssen Animal Shelter to help with their ongoing costs. They do so much for our community, and we’re grateful to support their mission.

Thankful to be part of a community that shows up and gives back! 💙

Today at our Lions Club meeting, we had the opportunity to hear from our senior speaker, Valeria Aguillon. We truly enjoyed learning about her hobbies, interests, and future aspirations—wishing her all the best ahead! We also had the privilege of hearing from Dennis Geesaman about current happenings across the state. Always a great day of fellowship and community! 🦁💛💜

Thank you to Flatonia Healthcare Center for allowing us to host our annual Easter egg hunt!

A huge thank you to Annie, Parker, Lexie, Lexi, Brynlee, Liz, Joe, Meredith, Adley, Berkeley, Sophia, Frankie, Olivia, Krisha, JJ, Beth, Cami, and Christina for helping put out 1,653 eggs—y’all are amazing!

Shoutout to my favorite Easter Bunny for making the day extra special 🐰

The hunt kicked off at 10 AM with kids ranging from babies to 10 years old, and all the eggs were picked up in just 6 minutes and 10 seconds—wow!
We hope everyone had a wonderful time. Wishing you all a blessed and happy Easter! ✝️🌸🐣

As many of you have felt, this year is already bringing the heat early to our community. With temperatures rising, we expect a greater need for fans this May to help keep our neighbors safe and comfortable.

The Flatonia Lions Club is once again organizing a fan drive, and we would love your support. Whether it’s a new fan or a monetary donation, every contribution makes a difference for local families in need.
