To the Community of Flemington,
My name is Eric Swick, and I have been involved in martial arts for over four decades. During that time, I have had the privilege of owning and operating my own martial arts dojo for more than 25 years, as well as leading a five-year cooperative martial arts homeschool program before the COVID-19 pandemic. Throughout my career, I have taught students ranging from 8 years old through adulthood, helping them develop skills that extend far beyond the training floor.
Today, I would like to explore the opportunity to bring a Martial Arts Outreach Program to the youth and families of the Flemington community.
Martial arts is about much more than punches and kicks. It is1 about building character, confidence, discipline, respect, perseverance, and self-control. It teaches young people how to make good decisions, resolve conflict without violence, and develop the confidence to stand up for themselves and others. Students also learn goal setting, leadership, teamwork, physical fitness, and personal responsibility qualities that benefit them in school, at home, and throughout their lives.
For adults, martial arts offers an opportunity to improve physical health, reduce stress, increase self-confidence, and learn practical self-defense skills while becoming part of a positive and supportive community.
My vision is to provide an affordable, welcoming program where people of all backgrounds can learn valuable life skills in a safe, encouraging environment. Whether someone is looking to improve fitness, gain confidence, prepare for life's challenges, or simply become the best version of themselves, martial arts can make a lasting difference.
I believe investing in our youth is one of the greatest investments a community can make. By providing positive mentorship, structure, and encouragement, we can help develop future leaders who carry integrity, respect, and compassion into every aspect of their lives.
If there is enough interest from families, community leaders, or local organizations, I would be honored to work together to make this outreach program a reality for Flemington.
Thank you for your time and consideration. I look forward to the opportunity to serve the community that has meant so much to me.
With respect,
Eric Swick, Sensei
