While he may be easily distracted, Ralph is incredibly smart and sweet! He knows ‘sit’, ‘shake’, and possibly ‘down’. He’s about 4 years old and 72 pounds of house hippo perfection. He doesn’t show much interest in other dogs, so slow and proper intros will be very important. He loves everybody he meets, including kids of all ages. He’s such a good boy who deserves the absolute world. 🌎

Three of our six Slumber Party participants have been adopted so far. (Huge success, thanks again! 🥹)

Brittle came back to the shelter on Tuesday. Apple has a little bit longer in her foster home. Carbon is coming back tomorrow, so this post is about her. ❤️🐾

Since Carbon’s last update, she has continued to become more comfortable and silly in her foster home. This is without a doubt the first time she has experienced peace and comfort.

Carbon is 5 years old and a compact 45 pounds. She is kid friendly and requires meets with other dogs. Please bring the whole family up to Genesee County Animal Control to meet her and see if it’s a match.

We would LOVE to see Carbon get adopted tomorrow or Saturday. PLEASE SHARE so that we can see Miss Carbon continue to flourish in a forever home. ❤️❤️❤️

SURPRISE! WE ARE HAVING A BLACK DOG AFFAIR ADOPTION EVENT THIS SATURDAY! 🥳

Black dogs have a much tougher time getting adopted from shelters and rescues as they are often overlooked and end up spending 3-4 times longer waiting to be chosen. February is Black Dog Syndrome Awareness Month, so to celebrate, we are very excited to announce this special event!

Join us for a ‘name your price’ adoption event this Saturday, February 22nd from 10 am - 2 pm! Come adopt your new best friend for as low as $10. We will be accepting a donation for the adoption fee, so the sky is the limit! Whatever you’d like to donate (minimum of $10) will be extremely appreciated.

*Genesee County residents will have to pay an additional $10 for the dog license. This event applies for black dogs and black cats only.*

All animals are vaccinated, spayed/neutered, and microchipped before leaving for adoption! 🐾

Meet our little guy Henry! 🐾

This adorable boy is 2 years old, 43 pounds, and dog friendly with proper intros. He’s a timid, reserved little fellow who would be most comfortable with older children (we’re thinking 8 years and up).

He’s the perfect sized canine buddy and a professional Velcro Pup. He seeks reassurance from his humans often and is eager to please. Everybody loves Henry… he’s truly an amazing dog.

HART’S DAY TRIP 🥰

“This is my take on Hart.

💜He's a brindle lover's dream (his markings are beautiful)
💜He was calm and quiet at my house (I can picture him being more excited if I were more exciting)
💜He wanted to stay by my side all the time (but he quietly waited for me if I went into a room he wasn't allowed in)
💜He loves belly rubs (he makes these funny grunting noises when he gets them)
💜He's very lovable (he gives lots of kisses)
💜He likes playing with toys (but he never tried to destroy them)
💜He appears to be housebroken (huge bonus)
💜He seems like the kind of dog that aims to please, would tailor his energy to his people's energy, and would be good in multiple types of households.

There would have been more pictures, but I was so enamored with Hart, all I wanted to do was cuddle. I find it so hard to believe this great guy has not been adopted yet.” -Sharon, volunteer

Hart is 2.5 years old and 74 pounds. He requires a meet with any other dogs in the home and would be most comfortable with older children. He’s shy and reserved at first but warms up quickly and wants to play. He knows ‘sit’ and ‘lay’ and is a wonderful dog who is struggling here at the shelter.

MEET POPTART! 🍭🩷🐾

This adorable little bug has the saddest eyes we’ve ever seen, and she’s breaking our hearts. She was spayed today and was so confused and uncomfortable when she woke up from her surgery. We are really hoping to be able to find this girl’s forever family ASAP so she can continue healing in a peaceful home setting.

Poptart is only 10 months old and 40 pounds. She appears to be dog friendly with slow introductions and would do well with children of all ages. She’s an inquisitive pup who just wants to play and spend time with good humans. She’s extremely affectionate and dreams of learning what unconditional love feels like.

She arrived in poor condition and had some skin issues, so it’s clear this girl experienced some neglect in the past. She is making improvements every single day and is more than ready to leave her days in the scary shelter behind.

TAZ IS IN A TEMPORARY FOSTER HOME! 🏡

This handsome brindle boy is getting a much needed break from the shelter with one of our amazing volunteers! Taz is one of our longest residents, and despite his amazing personality and stocky little perfect self, he hasn’t had a line out the door… crazy, we know!

Taz is 2 years old and 60 pounds. He doesn’t show much interest in other dogs, so as always, slow and proper intros will be critical to help all animals in the home feel comfortable. He loves people, and we think he would do well with children of all ages.

He’s a little shy at first but warms up quickly and wants to be your best friend. He’s extremely affectionate and will happily accept all the scritches in the world. He’s very smart and already knows ‘sit’ and ‘shake’. He’s sweet, goofy, and very playful.

Oh Weezy, you absolute beauty queen… ♥️

Weezy arrived here in January with two other dogs after heartbreakingly losing their owner. Bluey has since been adopted, but Weezy and Sissy are still here waiting to be chosen.

This girl has a 10/10 sit, the most beautiful face, and the BEST toofers!! She truly is a princess, and we don’t understand why she hasn’t had much interest.

Weezy is 3-4 years old and 56 pounds. She requires a meet with any other dogs living in the home and would be most comfortable with older children (we’re thinking 8 and up). She can be a little shy with new people, but once she feels comfortable, she is the biggest love bug.

RALPH’S DAY TRIP 🖤🐾

“My very first day trip...

Say hello to Ralph! This boy was the perfect gentleman. The first thing he did when I got him in my car was give me kisses. 🥰 He gets a little anxious and whines the first couple minutes in the car, but give him some pets and reassurance and he chills right out and lays down.

To start our date, I took Ralph to Wendy's. I didn't know if he liked burgers or nuggies so I got him both. Then we went to Flushing Park so I could hop in the back with him and hang out and give him his food... He loved all of it! 😋 He knows sit, shake, hug, kisses. 🤓

This guy is the whole package... sweet, smart, handsome! ❤️❤️❤️ I rate this date 10/10! Would definitely take Ralph out again, although I'd rather see him get adopted.” -Liz, volunteer

Hershey was a foster fail! 🥳 His amazing foster mom decided that she just couldn’t part ways with him. Little did we all know he found his forever home the day he left with her… 🥰

Midnight the cat was also adopted! Thank you, adopters. ♥️🐾
