50 years ago, Congress passed the Safe Drinking Water Act—legislation that set national standards for drinking water quality.

I joined the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency to reflect on the progress we’ve made and the work that remains to ensure everyone has access to safe and affordable drinking water.

I’m proud to have secured funding to ensure our mid-Michigan law enforcement agencies have the personnel and equipment they need to improve public safety, reduce crime and protect themselves while on duty.

Congratulations to Saginaw’s Diya Ramakrishnan on winning Michigan’s Eighth District Congressional App Challenge!

The app she created will help better diagnose serious health conditions, like cancer. As a cancer survivor, I understand the importance of early detection tools like these.

I am inspired by the young talent in our district and know Diya will go on to achieve great things!

Saginaw Arts and Sciences Academy sophomore Diya Ramakrishnan won Michigan's Eighth District Congressional App Challenge with her innovative app, "PolypDetect."

I was honored to deliver the keynote address at the 2024 Inmate Growth Naturally and Intentionally Through Education (IGNITE) program graduation.

This important program, which I secured federal funding for, provides education and job training to incarcerated people, helping set them up for good-paying jobs in the community. By investing in programs like IGNITE, we're improving public safety and building a stronger local economy.

I was proud to help pass the new law that is bringing federal funding back to Michigan to create jobs and support auto manufacturing.

Thanks to this investment, we are expanding clean hydrogen production sites right here in mid-Michigan that will help Flint's Mass Transportation Authority run on clean energy vehicles.

MachH2 in Michigan was one of seven hydrogen projects selected by federal energy officials to bolster the clean energy sector across the Midwest.
