MSU Extension Citizen Planner

MSU Extension (MSUE) and the MSU School of Planning, Design and Construction (SPDC) are seeking projects for the Sustainable Built Environment Initiative (SBEI), to assist Michigan communities with physical planning, design, and land use issues. It offers a graphic visioning process that provides citizens with design images and recommendations to guide improvements in their community with a sustainability theme. During 2020/2021 the SBEI will give priority to projects that focus on a Climate and Health Adaptation (SBEI-CHA) theme: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1CKjCMKMhgNpsb8GGZ7bxRPofBUCrT_g7/view. Examples could include downtown streetscapes, outdoor seating, event space, parks, waterfronts, bikeways and trails, open space systems, and industrial/commercial reuse. Learn more at the SBEI website:https://www.canr.msu.edu/spdc/research-outreach/sbei and to complete an application for assistance.

The Cost of Drunk Driving
• On average, a DUI can set you back $10,000 in attorney’s fees, fines, court costs, lost time at work, higher insurance rates, car towing, and more.
• The financial impact from impaired-driving crashes is devastating. Impaired-driving crashes cost the United States $44 billion annually.
• If you’re caught drinking and driving, you can face jail time. Imagine trying to explain that to your friends and family or your place of employment.
• Drinking and driving can cause you to lose your driver’s license and your vehicle. This could inhibit you from getting to work, resulting in lost wages and, potentially, job loss.
