Have you heard of the program “Lock it or Lose it?” Flint Township was able to utilize CDBG funding for Crime Prevention in their low-to-moderate income areas by hosting Lock it or Lose it Block Parties for residents. This gave residents an opportunity to learn about crime prevention and to further build relationships between residents and the Flint Township Police. GCMPC would like to say thank you to Flint Township, the Flint Township Police Department, and the Genesee County Board of Commissioners for making the project possible!

Genesee County Board of Commissioners

Genesee County Board of Commissioners

The FY 20/21 proposed budget is anticipated to be adopted tomorrow, September 23, 2020. The budget presented for public consideration and review, continues the funding of priority programs and services, and yet incorporates flexibility during these uncertain times.

Our FY 20/21 budget includes continued support for our Planning Commission. Genesee County Metropolitan Planning Commission (GCMPC) is an eleven-member Board appointed to three-year terms by the Genesee County Board of Commissioners.
GCMPC has many roles in community planning and development and administers several separate Federal, State, and Local level programs. Partly by the County's general fund allocation and dollars from grants, GCMPC works to improve the quality of life for all those who reside, work or recreate in Genesee County. They offer planning assistance to communities and organizations in the areas of transportation, community development, environment, and public infrastructure.
The Board of Commissioners to act as the lead agency for the development of the Five-Year Consolidated Plan, which can be found here: http://gcmpc.org/wp-content/uploads/2020/08/ConPlan-Amendment.pdf.
This plan provides an assessment of Genesee County’s five-year housing and community development needs. The needs are determined by evaluating data for: housing problems, homelessness, the non-homeless special needs population and existing housing options and their condition, homeless and special needs facilities and services, barriers to affordable housing and economic development market conditions.

Our FY 20/21 budget is a reflection of our priorities to meet the needs of the Genesee County community and are proud to adopt a balanced budget for all funds.

The public is able to review and comment on proposed expenditures before expected final adoption on September 23, 2020 (tomorrow). Find the full 2021 projected budget here:
